On the evening of May 13, at the Hai Phong City Convention Center, the City Women's Union organized the 3rd Ao Dai Festival in 2024 with the theme "Heritage Journey". This is an activity to celebrate the 69th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day and the 11th Red Flamboyant Festival.

Delegates perform the launching ceremony of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club in Hai Phong.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Chairwoman of the Hai Phong City Women's Union Vu Thi Kim Lien emphasized: Ao dai is an indispensable part of Vietnam's cultural heritage. Considered the "national costume" of Vietnam, ao dai is not only a traditional costume but also contains the rich history, tradition, culture and spirit of the Vietnamese people. Therefore, ao dai is on the journey to have a worthy position in the list of Vietnamese cultural heritage and further, world heritage.

With their pride and responsibility, Hai Phong women have organized and participated in many activities in that meaningful journey such as: Organizing the Ao Dai Festival, launching the Ao Dai Week on March 8 and October 20 every year, mobilizing women of all walks of life to wear Ao Dai in offices, schools, when going out, going to work, participating in festivals...; spreading Ao Dai contests through photos, giving Ao Dai to women in difficult circumstances and remote areas.

Ao dai designs performed at the 3rd “Ao dai Festival” with the theme “Heritage Journey”.

At this year's Festival, the audience enjoyed a space of classical and contemporary art and culture, recreating the ao dai from its original form to the changes and characteristics of each historical period. The designers took the audience on a journey around Vietnam to honor the ao dai through unique designs that combine the quintessence of traditional culture with modern, innovative fashion elements such as: Embroidery, painting motifs, using patterns from ethnic costumes. Inspired by the image of the peaceful homeland of Vietnam, from familiar places associated with the land and people of Hai Phong such as the Opera House, Hai Phong Railway Station, the city post office , Tam Bac Lake... and the bright color of the red phoenix flower - the symbolic flower of the Port City... the designers created and embroidered unique products with their love and skillful hands. Through the Festival, Hai Phong Women's Union hopes that the graceful and charming image, along with the beauty of the land and people of Hai Phong, will connect friends from all over the world to Hai Phong.
