Hai Phong introduces to the public a set of national treasures

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition of national treasures - An Bien collection taking place on the morning of May 11, Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hai Phong affirmed: "This is an important and extremely meaningful event, contributing to awakening and promoting the potentials and valuable heritages hidden in the land at the estuary to introduce to friends nationwide and internationally.

At the same time, affirming the role and position of the city in implementing the orientation of developing Hai Phong into a major tourist center of the country with a focus on developing tourism infrastructure, forming typical tourism products of the city associated with the sea, islands and historical and cultural relics.

Hai Phong is a land rich in historical and cultural traditions and dense in tangible and intangible cultural heritages, with 553 ranked relics, including 118 national relics, 433 city-level relics, 2 special national relics, 12 national intangible cultural heritages and 21 national treasures.

The above heritages are cultural and artistic imprints that demonstrate the thinking, aesthetics, creativity and skillful hands of our ancestors through each dynasty and period in the past.

It is these heritages that create the tradition of loving one's homeland, respecting morality, preserving family traditions, creating precious values ​​in the mind, and providing inner strength and spiritual power for successive generations to turn towards their roots.

Along with the event of Cat Ba archipelago being honored by UNESCO as a world natural heritage, the story of 21 treasures of Hai Phong. Among them are 18 national treasures of collector An Bien and especially the set of gold and silver artifacts in the Nghe Temple Sanctuary, which were kept, preserved and received by Hai Phong Museum in February 2024, for the first time announced and displayed at the 2024 Red Flamboyant Festival.

Hai Phong Museum is currently displaying nearly 400 rare antiques, open free of charge until December 2024 for people and tourists to admire.

This is an extremely valuable and meaningful set of artifacts for the people of Hai Phong. It is a set of artifacts associated with the worship of female general Le Chan, who laid the foundation for the formation of Hai Phong city today, and is revered by the people as the Holy Mother and the city's tutelary god.

Accordingly, from May 11 to the end of December 2024, Hai Phong Museum will officially open for free to welcome people and tourists to admire and worship nearly 400 rare antiques from different periods and dynasties over the past two millennia.

The artifacts selected for display date from the Dong Son culture to the 19th century Dai Viet nation.

An Bien Antiquities is a large collection, preserving the cultural quintessence that glorifies Vietnamese culture. Owned and collected by businessman Tran Dinh Thang (Hai Phong) over the past 40 years. After 40 years of collection, 500 artifacts with scientific records registered with state agencies were named the An Bien collection, divided into four cultural space groups.

These are antiques of the Dai Viet state, 11th - 19th century; Chinese antiques, 9th - 19th century; antiques from the Northern domination period, 5th century BC to 9th century and a set of wooden and stone Buddha statues, 17th - 19th century.
