This is an important milestone in the work of preserving and promoting the cultural and historical heritage values of the Port City and the traditional land of Kien Thuy.
The Mac Dynasty was founded by the founder Mac Dang Dung, and existed from 1527 to 1592, spanning 65 years with 5 kings. Although it only reigned for a short period of time compared to other feudal dynasties, the Mac Dynasty left a clear mark in the nation's history with economic , administrative, and educational reforms, promoting talents, and stabilizing people's lives.
Under the Mac dynasty, many talented people appeared, typically Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem and Doctor Nguyen Thi Due, the first female doctor in Vietnamese history.
The capital Duong Kinh, where the dynasty was founded, was also the hometown of Mac Dang Dung, now located in Kien Thuy district, Hai Phong city. This is one of the rare coastal capitals in Vietnamese history, demonstrating the strategic vision of politics , military and economy of the Mac dynasty. Over time, this place still preserves many important relics, becoming a red address in the journey to find the roots of the nation.

The relic cluster related to the Mac Dynasty in Duong Kinh includes 5 typical relic sites: Mac Family Temple (National Monument, 2002), Mac Dynasty Kings Memorial Area (City-level Monument, 2016), Tra Phuong Pagoda (National Monument, 2007), Nhan Trai Pagoda (City-level Monument, 2003) and Hoa Lieu Temple and Pagoda (National Monument, 1993). This is a synthesis of historical, cultural and architectural values, demonstrating the stature of a dynasty and its deep attachment to the land of Hai Phong .
In particular, these relics are preserving many extremely valuable national treasures such as: Dinh Nam Dao - the sword symbolizing the power of Mac Dang Dung; Mac Thai To statue - a unique sculpture expressing the majestic demeanor of the founding king; the relief of Queen Mother Vu Thi Ngoc Toan, along with a series of ancient steles with unique documentary and artistic value.
The relic complex also preserves unique intangible cultural values, notably the Minh The Festival - the only anti-corruption and fraud oath-taking ceremony that still exists today in Vietnam. This festival not only has spiritual significance but also demonstrates the spirit of upholding morality and upholding the responsibility of leaders in the past and present governing apparatus.
