In 2024, Hai Phong City officially achieved double-digit growth for 10 consecutive years - this is a milestone in the city's development history.
On December 4, Hai Phong City People's Council held the opening ceremony of the 21st session (regular session at the end of 2024) of the 16th City People's Council, term 2021-2026.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau assessed that this is a meeting with a very large workload, solving many important and urgent issues of the city, and is an important time to prepare necessary conditions when Hai Phong enters the final year of the 5-year socio-economic development plan (2021-2025).
The Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee said that the city's main goals and tasks for 2024 have basically been completed and exceeded, with many positive highlights.
It is expected that the city's GRDP growth rate in 2024 will reach more than 11%, ranking 3rd in the country. This result is even more meaningful when in the third quarter of 2024, due to the severe impact of storm No. 3, the city's GRDP growth rate only reached 9.77%.
If nothing changes, Hai Phong will officially reach the milestone of 10 consecutive years of double-digit growth, a milestone in its development history.
According to the report at the 18th Conference of the Executive Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, term XVI, the progress of disbursement of public investment capital is still slow, up to now only reaching 76% of the assigned plan, reaching more than 59% of the plan assigned by the City.
Regarding Hai Phong's revenue, in the first 11 months of 2024, land revenue accounted for more than 40% of the city's domestic revenue, much higher than that of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Quang Ninh province.
In 2025, Hai Phong will continue to closely follow and focus on leading and directing the implementation of the goals. In particular, completing a number of tasks is a basic condition and a solid foundation for the next stage of breakthrough development, such as: Establishing the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong (in 2024); speeding up the establishment of industrial parks that are stuck in procedures and have not been completed for many years.
Establishment of the southern coastal economic zone of Hai Phong Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed a decision to establish the southern coastal economic zone of Hai Phong, Hai Phong City, with an area of 20,000 hectares (of which about 2,909 hectares is reclaimed land), located in Do Son district and An Lao, Kien Thuy, Tien Lang, and Vinh Bao districts. This coastal economic zone consists of 7 sub-zones. In addition, there is a main road network of the economic zone with a total length of 98km, and branch roads with a total length of 34km. It is expected that the cost to establish the economic zone will be about 400,000-600,000 billion VND, from the budget and other sources of capital. Of which, the capital from the Ministry of Transport to invest in the shared infrastructure system of Nam Do Son port (channel, turning basin, breakwater, sand barrier, road outside the port, ground improvement and treatment...) is about 30,000 billion VND. The Hai Phong Southern Coastal Economic Zone was established to maximize the advantages of the city's international gateway location, industrial development foundation, seaport services... At the same time, build and develop into a comprehensive, multi-industry, multi-functional economic zone, following the model of green growth, circular economy, sustainable development; focusing on high-tech industry, seaport services and modern logistics; being a marine economic center with a pioneering role, with a mutual function, connecting with other coastal economic zones, creating development momentum for the Red River Delta. |
