Two bachelors Nguyen Thai Hanh Nguyen and Vu Thi Thuy Nhi (both born in 2001 and residing in Dong Da ward, Pleiku city) are causing a stir on social networks when they wrote applications to volunteer to join the army.

After completing the required procedures, on the morning of February 20, the Dong Da Ward Military Command handed over the military enlistment orders to two female citizens. In the next few days, the two girls will be wearing green military uniforms and join the army, continuing the family tradition.

Hanh Nguyen and Thuy Nhi have quite similar family backgrounds. Hanh Nguyen's father works at Military Hospital 211, while Thuy Nhi's father works at Battalion 827, Logistics Department (3rd Corps). Both have mothers who are teachers.

Nguyen Thai Hanh Nguyen graduated with a Bachelor of Commercial Law from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, and Vu Thi Thuy Nhi graduated with a major in Nursing from Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

After graduating from university, many people want to become lawyers or doctors, but Hanh Nguyen and Thuy Nhi volunteered to join the military, with the desire to strive and train to stay and serve long-term in the army.

Sharing with VietNamNet, Hanh Nguyen said: “Because I come from a family with a father who is a soldier, I have loved the green color of military uniforms since I was little. I want to become a female soldier to continue the good tradition of my father and brother.”

When asked why she did not continue studying to become a lawyer, Hanh Nguyen shared: “Joining the army does not mean giving up on education. After completing training, the Military Department will base on expertise and professional skills to mobilize and assign work suitable to the profession you have studied.”

After receiving the military enlistment notice, Thuy Nhi was a bit worried about whether she could complete the assigned task or not, but she believed that with her love for the soldier's uniform, she would overcome it.

“The motivation for me to write the volunteer application was partly because my father was a soldier. During my school years, I was also exposed to the subject of National Defense Education, which motivated me to become a soldier. I hope that after training, I will be able to pursue a nursing career, contributing a small part to the cause of building and protecting the country,” Thuy Nhi confided.

Talking about the strict military environment, Thuy Nhi added: “In college, I studied National Defense Education, so I got used to the discipline, routine, and working hours of the military. Moreover, my father was a soldier, so I was trained by him since I was little.”
