Vietnam team competes in the 2024 International Physics Olympiad - Photo: MOET
On the morning of July 28, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the 2024 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) held in Iran.
The Vietnamese national team participating in the competition consisted of 5 students. As a result, all 5 students participating in the competition won medals.
The two students who won gold medals were Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung, both 12th grade students at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted (Bac Giang province).
Three students won silver medals, including Nguyen Nhat Minh, a 12th grader from the High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Ha Duyen Phuc, a 12th grader from Lam Son High School for Gifted Students (Thanh Hoa province); Nguyen Thanh Duy, a 12th grader from Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students (Hai Phong).
The 54th International Physics Olympiad was held in Iran from July 21 to July 29.
According to the IPhO Council regulations 2024, the exam consists of one theoretical exam and one practical exam. Each exam lasts 5 hours.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's exam is considered interesting and difficult, with both theoretical and practical exam content closely linked to real life and touching on applications of modern science and technology.
To win a gold medal, contestants must be in the top 8% of contestants with the highest scores.
With 100% of students winning medals, including 2 gold medals and 3 silver medals, the Vietnamese delegation is among the countries with the highest results at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad.
This year's results are also better than 2023 (in 2023, the Vietnamese team won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal).
The IPhO 2024 Organizing Committee will hold the closing ceremony and award ceremony on July 28, starting at 9:00 a.m. Iran time.
