On August 28, the Ministry of Education and Training announced a number of new points expected in the draft circular on high school graduation exam regulations from 2025.

Plan to include information technology in high school graduation exam

According to the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, it is expected that from 2025, the high school graduation exam will be shortened from the current four sessions to three sessions.

Regarding the exam subjects and exam questions as announced in the high school graduation exam plan from 2025, specifically adding the subjects of information technology and technology (industry, agriculture), these are the subjects that will be organized for the first time in the exam.

Added some new question formats for multiple choice exams (previously there was only one multiple choice question format).

At the same time, increase the differentiation of exam questions for all subjects to achieve the exam objectives as announced in the exam plan.

In addition, it is expected that the high school graduation exam from 2025 will increase the application of information technology and digital transformation in exam organization.

Specifically, all candidates can register for the exam online, verify personal information and priority points through the digital database. In the previous stage, independent candidates had to submit their application directly.

The transmission of exam papers (digitalization) has a new method through the Government Cipher Committee's system, ensuring speed, security, time and cost savings.

Regarding the organization of exam sites, exam rooms, and high school graduation exams from 2025, it is expected that exam sites and exam rooms will be arranged according to the principle of maximum support for candidates without having to move exam rooms:

Allow students from nearby educational institutions to mix to organize convenient testing locations for candidates. Candidates only take the test in one testing room during the entire exam. Priority is given to arranging the same test of 2 elective subjects.

High school graduation exam uses all 3 years of study results

Regarding the recognition of high school graduation, from 2025, it is expected to increase the rate of using learning assessment results in grades 10, 11 and 12 to 50% (previously it was 30% and only grade 12 results were used).

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this is to comprehensively assess the abilities of students studying according to the 2018 General Education Program and increase the effectiveness of achieving many of the exam's announced goals.

Candidates with foreign language certificates that meet regulations are exempted from the foreign language exam but will not be counted as 10 points in graduation recognition as currently regulated.

Also from 2025, it is expected to add regulations to pilot computer-based exams when conditions are met according to the roadmap as announced in the exam plan, gradually piloting from 2027 and when conditions are met, mass implementation after 2030.
