Hai Duong requests to close 49 full landfills

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province has just requested the People's Committees of Cam Giang, Thanh Mien, Gia Loc, Ninh Giang, Tu Ky, Binh Giang districts and Chi Linh city, Kinh Mon town to direct the People's Committees of communes, wards and towns to close 49 landfills that are full and no longer able to receive waste, and landfills that have stopped operating in accordance with regulations.

Previously, according to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, there were a total of 661 household waste landfills in the province, of which 256 had been closed or stopped operating, while 405 were still operating.

Of the 405 landfills in operation, 49 in the above localities have an occupancy rate of about 95 - 100%, no longer able to store; 173 landfills have an occupancy rate of 70% to less than 95%, still able to store but the volume is not much; 183 landfills have an occupancy rate of less than 70%, still able to receive.
