Hai Duong plants fast-spreading trees, slow-growing forests

According to the provincial Forest Protection Department, from the beginning of February to April 14, Hai Duong planted 437,391 scattered trees, including timber and shade trees, reaching 76.1% of the yearly plan.

3 districts exceeded the plan for scattered tree planting, including: Nam Sach 18,100 trees (20.7% higher), Binh Giang 32,000 trees (3.2% higher), Tu Ky 50,200 trees (0.4% higher). Thanh Ha district completed the plan for scattered tree planting with 15,000 trees.

The progress of scattered tree planting is taking place quickly because most districts, towns and cities have assigned targets to each agency, unit and locality. Localities actively promote and mobilize businesses to participate in supporting the tree planting movement...

Along with the scattered tree planting as last year, this year, the Provincial People's Committee launched afforestation to restore the forest area damaged by storm No. 3. However, the forest planting is quite slow. Currently, the whole province has only planted 151 hectares of forest after exploitation and replacement forest, reaching 37.7% of the yearly plan.

Forest planting progress in Hai Duong is slow due to little rain.

The reason is that since the beginning of the year, Hai Duong has had little rain and the prolonged dry weather is not favorable for afforestation. The cost of investment in afforestation has increased due to the increase in the price of materials and seedlings, causing forest owners and households with production forest areas to not focus on investment.

The Forest Protection Department recommends that the forest planting season will officially begin in April. The Forest Protection Department of Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon Town should actively urge forest owners, households, and individuals to proactively prepare seedlings to plant on cool, rainy days...

On February 13, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province launched the "Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho" across the province. Hai Duong aims to plant nearly 700,000 trees of all kinds in 2025 (290,000 scattered trees, 163.4 hectares of post-exploitation forest with 260,000 trees and more than 255 hectares of replacement forest with 148,000 trees).
