Hai Duong currently has more than 16.3 million poultry. To proactively prevent avian influenza, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requests the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to direct the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of districts, the Economic Department of cities and towns, the District Agricultural Service Center, the Commune People's Committees, and the grassroots veterinary force to proactively organize surveillance to detect early cases of A/H5N1 influenza virus and other dangerous strains of avian influenza virus at the household level. Organize vaccination of avian influenza for poultry flocks, ensuring a minimum rate of over 80% of the total flock at risk and subject to vaccination and 100% of breeding poultry flocks according to Plan No. 1222/KH-UBND dated April 15, 2020 of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province on prevention and control of avian influenza in the period 2020 - 2025 and instructions of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the province.

The Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has developed a plan to proactively monitor the disease situation and the circulation of avian influenza virus, ensuring early detection, warning and thorough handling of outbreaks, preventing widespread spread of the disease. Recommend and guide the use of new generation avian influenza vaccines, vaccines to prevent diseases caused by avian influenza virus strains permitted to circulate in Vietnam. Organize the collection of avian influenza samples to promptly warn localities. Establish working groups to inspect and urge the prevention of avian influenza in localities, especially high-risk areas and areas with high poultry density...

Previously, on February 21, the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine took samples to test for H5N1 avian influenza virus at 2 chicken farms in Hoang Tien ward (Chi Linh) because these 2 farms had a number of poultry that died of unknown causes. The results, all test samples were negative.
