On April 15 and 16, the inspection team of the Traffic Safety Committee of Hai Duong province inspected the current status of self-opened walkways on the Gia Lam - Hai Phong railway line in Cam Giang, Kim Thanh districts and Hai Duong city.
The inspection team includes representatives from the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee Office, the Traffic Police Department (Hai Duong Provincial Police), the Traffic Infrastructure Management Department (Department of Construction), the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, Ha Hai Railway Joint Stock Company, the People's Committees of Cam Giang and Kim Thanh districts, Hai Duong city, and the People's Committees of communes and towns with railways passing through Kim Thanh district.
The Gia Lam - Hai Phong railway line through Hai Duong is 45.2 km long. By the end of 2024, there were about 160 self-opened crossings on this railway line. In the first 4 months of 2025, nearly 70 self-opened crossings were removed. The Hanoi - Hai Phong railway feeder road construction project in Kim Thanh district is under construction and is expected to be completed next May. 10 more self-opened crossings will be removed, bringing the total to about 80 self-opened crossings (about 50%).
To reduce self-opening paths and eventually eliminate them completely, the inspection team requested relevant agencies and units to speed up the construction of the remaining railway service roads. The railway sector upgraded some self-opening paths with guards to level crossings with warnings and automatic barriers. Relevant units were requested to install corrugated iron barriers at some intersections of railways with National Highway 5, railways with service roads, etc.
