This year, the entire province will plant more than 255 hectares of replacement forest.

A new feature this year is that Hai Duong not only planted scattered trees like last year but also intensified reforestation efforts to restore forest areas damaged by Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi) which occurred in September 2024.

Specifically, the entire province aims to plant 290,000 scattered trees, 163.4 hectares of forest after logging (260,000 trees), and more than 255 hectares of replacement forest (148,000 trees).

According to the allocation targets, Chi Linh City was assigned to plant the most trees with 270,000, followed by the Provincial Forest Management Board with 148,000 trees, Kinh Mon town with 42,000 trees, and the remaining districts and cities each with 15,000 to 35,000 trees.

For scattered trees, the People's Committees at all levels, agencies, and units shall determine suitable tree species according to the Decision of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province promulgating the list of fast-growing, slow-growing, purpose-oriented, and non-purpose-oriented forestry tree species for protection forests and production forests; and scattered tree species in Hai Duong province.

For reforestation seedlings after logging, based on soil conditions, local practices, and market demand, the district People's Committee directs specialized agencies at the district level to guide people in selecting forestry trees from the above list, prioritizing the planting of large timber trees to protect the soil and increase production value.

For reforestation projects, follow the approved documentation and budget.

Following the directives of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, on February 13th (the 16th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake), localities throughout the province simultaneously launched a campaign to plant scattered trees. Depending on the specific conditions of each locality and unit, the Chairmen of the People's Committees at the district level and heads of agencies and units chose appropriate organizational forms, avoiding ostentation and formality.

The timeframe for reforestation will be determined according to the approved documentation and budget.

The timing for planting scattered trees and reforestation after logging varies throughout the year, depending on the planting location, tree species, seedling age, and care provided by agencies, units, households, and individuals.

People's Committees at all levels, agencies, and units will independently fund the planting of 290,000 scattered trees. Funding from businesses, individuals, and other legitimate sources is encouraged.

For the 163.14 hectares of forest after logging, the funding comes from households contracted to manage production forests and protection forests in Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon town.

For the more than 255 hectares of replacement forest, the funding comes from the Hai Duong Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund.

In recent days, several localities and units have begun planting trees for the year 2025.
