On April 26, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency of Nhon Trach District Police (Dong Nai Province) coordinated with the Forest Protection Department, specialized agencies of the district, the People's Committee of Phuoc An Commune and the Long Thanh Protective Forest Management Board to release two otters - two living small-clawed otters belonging to group IB (endangered, rare wild animals) back into the natural environment.

The location for releasing the two small-clawed otters is in the Nhon Trach mangrove forest area in Phuoc An commune, Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai province), managed by the Long Thanh protective forest management board.

The Nhon Trach District Veterinary Station (Dong Nai Province) coordinated with functional forces to check the health of two otters - two rare wild animals listed in the Red Book - before releasing them into the wild in a famous mangrove forest.

It is known that these are 2 otters - 2 rare wild animals discovered in captivity in Phuoc Thien commune, Nhon Trach district on April 19, 2024, being handled and investigated by the District Police Investigation Agency for the case of "Violating regulations on the protection of endangered, precious and rare wild animals".

Two wild animals - two rare small-clawed otters - were released into the natural environment in the mangrove forest of Phuoc An commune, Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province.

Previously, the Investigation Police Agency of Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province, conducted an appraisal and sought opinions from experts to determine that the small-clawed otter species currently has a common habitat concentrated in the mangrove forest area of ​​Phuoc An Commune.

These two small-clawed otters were checked by the Nhon Trach District Veterinary Station (Dong Nai province) for good health and were healthy before being released into the natural environment.

Releasing rare wild animals back into the natural environment is appropriate for survival and development, and also preserves rare and precious wild animals according to regulations.
