First two kidney transplant patients discharged from hospital

Doctors of Quang Ninh General Hospital congratulate the patient on being discharged from the hospital.

Two patients, one male and one female, both suffering from end-stage chronic renal failure requiring dialysis, were fortunate to receive kidney transplants from a brain-dead donor. On April 8, 2025, both kidney transplant surgeries were performed simultaneously at the Provincial General Hospital and the Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, the first two kidney transplants in Quang Ninh.

After the transplant, both patients received careful post-operative care, closely monitoring the recovery process as well as the function of the transplanted kidney. Currently, both patients have recovered, the transplanted kidney is progressing well, and indicators show that the kidney is functioning normally in the patient's body.

Patients at Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital were discharged.

Up to now, it can be affirmed that both medical units of Quang Ninh have been successful with kidney transplant techniques, marking a new step forward for Quang Ninh healthcare on the national organ transplant map, opening up new life opportunities for kidney failure patients in the area. These first two successful cases are the result of careful preparation by the two above-mentioned units as well as the Quang Ninh Health sector, the special attention of the province for the healthcare career, both in terms of modern and synchronous facilities, as well as training of human resources with increasingly improved professional qualifications.

This is also the premise for units to continue to routinely deploy kidney transplant techniques, as well as other organ transplant techniques right in the province, continuously improving the quality of health care for people in the area, as well as affirming the medical capacity of Quang Ninh nationwide.
