From September 1 to October 30, Ha Tinh will focus on implementing the second phase of vaccination in 2023 for livestock and poultry to ensure disease prevention and control.
Duc Tho district organizes the second vaccination of livestock and poultry in 2023.
According to information from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Ha Tinh, implementing the second phase of periodic vaccination plan for livestock and poultry in 2023, localities in Ha Tinh have been reviewing the current herd in the area, proactively registering to buy the quantity of vaccines of all types according to demand.
According to the plan, for buffalo and cattle, vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease, anthrax, and lumpy skin disease will reach over 80% of the total herd. For pigs, vaccination against cholera, anthrax, and foot-and-mouth disease will reach over 80% of the total herd. For poultry, vaccination against avian influenza will reach over 80% of the total herd. Ha Tinh strives to complete the second round of vaccination against livestock and poultry before October 30 as planned.
Vaccination is an effective solution to prevent epidemics during the transitional season when livestock's resistance decreases.
Vaccination of livestock and poultry at this time is extremely important because the animals have run out of immunity, the weather is changing seasons, and dangerous diseases such as lumpy skin disease in buffaloes and cows, foot and mouth disease, avian influenza, etc. can easily arise.
According to the industry, localities need to have specific implementation plans and actively promote so that local people can coordinate with veterinary staff during the implementation process, ensuring that vaccination progress is on schedule with a high rate. Farmers also need to voluntarily cooperate in disease vaccination work, pay attention to cleaning barns to contribute to protecting livestock.
The provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine also strengthens training and professional guidance for veterinary staff at commune, ward and town levels; proactively advises, fully supplies and ensures the quality of vaccines and chemicals for vaccination work in localities.
Currently, according to data from the Ha Tinh Statistics Office, the province's pig herd is 395,100, the poultry herd is estimated at 9,910 thousand, the buffalo herd is estimated at 67,300, and the cow herd is estimated at 167,720. |
