TPO - At the working session with the delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province Vo Trong Hai proposed that the Ministry continue to accompany, support and help Ha Tinh in the development of science and technology and innovation, especially the development of a sustainable marine economy.
On June 28 in Ha Tinh, a working delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology led by Deputy Minister Tran Hong Thai had a working session with the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province to evaluate the results of science, technology and innovation (S&T) activities in the province in the period of 2022-2024, and key tasks in the coming time.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Vo Trong Hai, Chairman of Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee, said that the province is very interested in the issue of science and technology development.
The leader of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province shared that in recent times, the province's research, application and transfer of science and technology have achieved many important results. The Department of Science and Technology has actively and proactively advised on programs, policies and projects to promote science and technology activities, taking the lead in digital transformation and administrative reform.

However, the province’s S&T capacity is generally weak, with no close connection between research and application, and no cutting-edge S&T products. The consultation and proposal for ordering annual S&T tasks are limited and of low quality. Many S&T topics and projects lack practical application.
Chairman Vo Trong Hai expressed his hope that in the coming time, the Ministry of Science and Technology will pay attention to helping Ha Tinh with a number of programs and projects, connecting Ha Tinh with diplomatic agencies and international organizations to call for funding for science and technology programs and projects, natural disaster prevention and climate change. In addition, priority will be given to helping Ha Tinh with a number of science and technology tasks on sustainable development of the marine economy, intellectual property development of unique products, logistics services, supporting industries and high-tech agriculture.
Mr. Bui Quang Hoan, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ha Tinh province, shared some outstanding results in the field of science and technology of the locality, both in terms of state management as well as research, application and transfer activities.

Regarding intellectual property, up to now, the whole province has 2,943 industrial property objects supported for registration for protection, an increase of more than 8 times compared to 2015. There are 16 products registered for community brand protection, and support is being implemented to develop intellectual property for six products, including two products with protected geographical indications.
Regarding research, application and transfer, from 2020 to present, Ha Tinh has carried out two State-level tasks under the Gene Fund Program, 11 projects under the Rural and Mountainous Areas Program and 87 provincial-level topics and projects with many outstanding results.

In the field of engineering and technology, we focus on applying biotechnology to environmental treatment and organic fertilizer production; applying information technology in state management activities; applying automation technology in vegetable and fruit production and agricultural and food processing.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Hong Thai assessed that state management of science and technology and innovation in the province has been comprehensively implemented, with many innovations, and research, application and transfer of scientific and technological advances have achieved many outstanding results.
The Deputy Minister suggested that in the coming time, Ha Tinh needs to promote research and application of advanced scientific and technological achievements, new technology, and high technology in economic development, marine economy towards blue marine economy and circular economy.
Promote applied research and transfer of scientific and technological advances in environmental protection and biodiversity conservation while exploiting and using natural resources effectively and sustainably, improving the ability to respond to natural disasters and effectively adapt to climate change.
In addition, it is necessary to promote research and application of science and technology to develop culture and society, preserve and promote the values of traditional cultural heritage of the locality.
The Deputy Minister proposed a number of key solutions such as increasing investment in potential as well as attracting non-budgetary resources for science and technology and innovation activities. Deploying a review and assessment of the current status of technology application, transfer and innovation of organizations and enterprises in the area; having solutions to strongly promote applied research, technology transfer and innovation activities in organizations and enterprises.
The province also needs to actively propose science and technology tasks to solve major interdisciplinary and inter-regional science and technology problems, develop products with high added value, and products along the value chain.
In addition, the application of new and high technologies in investment and production projects should be enhanced to improve productivity, quality and sustainable development. “The province also needs to continue to promote the development of the creative and innovative startup ecosystem in the province as well as develop the market and science and technology enterprises,” said Deputy Minister Tran Hong Thai.
