This morning (December 18), Ha Long Shipbuilding Company launched the second most modern wind power service ship out of a total of 14 ships built for a Dutch ship owner.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, General Director of Ha Long Shipbuilding Company Limited (Shipbuilding Industry Corporation - SBIC) said that the CSOV 8720 - YN552206 ship named Windcat Amsterdam launched today is the second ship in a series of 14 Ha Long wind power service ships under construction for the ship owner.
General Director of Ha Long Shipbuilding Company Nguyen Tuan Anh pledged to continue to complete the ship after launching and hand it over on schedule.
In 2022 and 2023, Ha Long Shipbuilding Company Limited signed a series of 8 CSOV wind power service vessels with Damen Group - Netherlands.
In July 2024, the company continued to sign an additional 6 CSOV wind power service vessels with Damen customers, bringing the total number of CSOV vessels signed with Damen to 14.
The CSOV wind power service vessel is a service vessel supporting the offshore wind power industry. The vessel is over 88m long, 19.7m wide, has a design draft of 5.3m, and a load capacity of approximately 6,700 GT.
This is a ship with a complex system, requiring high level of expertise and skills in construction. The ship is equipped with all the most modern technology, ensuring the "green" factor, leading in carbon reduction in the field of maritime transport, hydrogen engines, environmentally friendly; modern dynamic positioning system; there are stairs to take people from the ship to the world's largest wind power plants, rooms for workers to live for long periods of time.
"In October 2024, the company successfully launched CSOV 8720 No. 1. The launching of CSOV 8720 No. 2 today continues to mark the beginning of a new journey in the effort to achieve the goal, which is the determination to strongly affirm the position of the Vietnamese shipbuilding industry in the international market.

Mr. Tran Manh Ha, Acting General Director of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, requested Ha Long to focus on human resources to complete the ship to ensure quality and progress.
Congratulating Ha Long Shipbuilding Company and Damen Group, Mr. Tran Manh Ha, Acting General Director of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation emphasized that the launching ceremony of CSOV No. 2 not only marks an important milestone in the cooperation process between Damen - Ha Long but is also the pride of the Vietnamese shipbuilding industry.
This product line fully meets the strict technical, safety and international quality requirements required by Damen Group, thereby affirming the level, capacity, intelligence and skills of Vietnamese shipbuilders in the international shipbuilding market.
Wind power service vessel No. 2 was successfully launched.
