On January 12, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police said that in 2023, the Traffic Police force directly and jointly handled more than 301,000 cases of traffic safety violations, imposing fines of more than VND 590 billion. The authorities temporarily detained more than 81,000 vehicles, nearly 157,000 sets of documents and revoked 55,300 driving licenses.
The capital's traffic police handled 73,446 drivers violating alcohol concentration. Compared to the previous year, the number of people fined for alcohol concentration violations increased 4.3 times (56,230 cases).
In addition, some other notable violations are speeding (nearly 11,000 cases, up 62%), and overloading (11,000 cases, up 135%).
In 2023, Task Force 141 detected 770 cases, 876 of which showed signs of crime, and handed them over to functional units for investigation and resolution.
