Hanoi: Refrigerator fire in boarding house causes thick smoke, many people panic

At around 9:00 p.m. on March 14, people discovered a fire breaking out in a rented room on the 3rd floor of a 5-story house in Tan Trieu commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi.

The fire was caused by a short circuit in the refrigerator, the fire from the plastic shell caused thick smoke, making many people panic and scream.

Upon receiving the information, the local fire brigade quickly arrived and coordinated with the homeowner to extinguish the fire. During the firefighting process, a panicked woman suffered scratches on her arms and legs.

Ambulance and fire engines were on the scene.

Receiving information from the 114 center, the Fire Police and Rescue Police of Thanh Tri District Police quickly mobilized officers, soldiers and vehicles to perform the task.

However, when arriving at the scene, the working group did not have to deploy the team but only received and supported the handling to ensure the safety of the people.

The owners of the house are Mr. DT.L. (born in 1972) and Ms. DT.TH. The house has just been put into use for rent since the beginning of 2024. Before being put into operation, the Fire Police and Rescue force had propagated and recommended that the homeowner fully equip themselves with fire extinguishers and keep them in an easily accessible place.

Thanh Tri District Police and Tan Trieu Commune are coordinating to protect the scene and investigate the cause of the fire.
