Accordingly, the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route leads with 949,246 seats offered, far surpassing other domestic routes in the region such as Jakarta - Makassar (Indonesia) and Cebu - Manila (Philippines).

The Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City route ranked 5th with 427,779 seats offered, while the Da Nang – Hanoi route ranked 7th, although capacity on this route decreased by 31% compared to the previous month.

Indonesian routes such as Jakarta – Bali and Surabaya – Makassar, along with other domestic routes in the Philippines, are also on this Top 10 list.

Other domestic routes in the top 10 include Indonesian routes such as Surabaya – Makassar, Jakarta – Medan, Jakarta – Surabaya and Davao – Manila (Philippines).

According to an airline, the North-South route such as Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi is very important to the airline because it has higher revenue and profit than other domestic routes.

This is a route connecting two of the largest economic centers, with very high travel demand from business travelers, official passengers, and tourists.

High demand makes the average ticket price on this route higher than other routes, especially during peak times.

The average ticket price from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi is from 1.5 to 3.5 million VND/passenger/trip, significantly higher than routes such as Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang from 1.2 to 2.5 million VND or Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc from 1 to 2 million VND...

That is also the reason why on the occasion of the September 2nd holiday, the frequency of flights connecting the three major cities of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang increased, averaging 241 flights/day, an increase of 8% compared to the week before the holiday and an increase of 14.9% compared to the same period last year.

According to the September 2 holiday plan, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that all airlines have plans to increase the number of flights on their routes. From August 30 to September 3, airlines will operate 4,257 flights, an average of 840 flights/day, an increase of 3% compared to the previous holiday week and an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
