Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong
According to the report of the Hanoi People's Committee, the implementation of the Press Development Plan in Hanoi has achieved many positive results after more than 5 years of implementing Decision 362/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. Previously, Hanoi had 20 press agencies, including 12 newspapers, 7 magazines and 1 radio and television station. To date, this number has been reduced to 8 agencies, including 5 newspapers, 2 magazines and 1 radio and television station. This is the result of the process of arrangement, model conversion and organizational consolidation to meet new requirements.
The total number of employees at press agencies is currently 1,187, of which 556 are granted press cards. Revenue of press agencies in the first 9 months of 2024 reached 427.7 billion VND, with advertising revenue accounting for a significant proportion.

This includes maintaining a strong enough press system to serve well the political tasks, orienting public opinion, while modernizing technology, improving human resources quality and promoting digital transformation to keep up with modern media trends in the context of rapidly developing social networks.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed and clarified issues arising in the implementation of Decision No. 362/QD-TTg, especially the difficulties in merging press agencies. Notable contents include organizing the structure, shaping operations, improving the capacity of management staff, reporters, editors, as well as investing in facilities and equipment after the merger...
