Specifically, high schools with low admission scores this year include: Minh Quang High School only requires 18 points. Some schools such as My Duc C High School, Bac Luong Son High School, Luu Hoang High School, Dai Cuong High School require 19-21 points. Students only need to achieve an average of about 4.2 points/subject to be admitted to the school.
Speaking with Dan Tri reporter this afternoon, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that this is completely normal because according to the enrollment trend, if the school has a high admission score last year, the next year the parents of the students are afraid that it will be difficult to pass so they do not submit their applications, leading to the school lacking the quota and having to lower the admission score.
"On the contrary, some schools had low scores last year, parents rushed to submit applications, causing this year's benchmark score to increase, such as Thang Long High School, last year the benchmark score was 40 but this year it increased to 42.25 points.
It can be said that the fluctuation in the benchmark scores of schools at the level of nearly half reduction like Doan Ket High School in Hai Ba Trung district is not much. On average, the schools only fluctuate by a few points, especially the top schools with quite stable enrollment," said Mr. Tuan.
This year, Yen Hoa High School and Chu Van An High School continue to have the highest admission score for grade 10 in Hanoi with 42.5 points. With the admission score calculated as the sum of 3 subjects, in which Math and Literature are multiplied by a factor of two, to be admitted, candidates need to achieve an average of 8.5 points for each subject. Ranked second is Thang Long High School with 42.25 points.
The next highest benchmark scores are Phan Dinh Phung High School, Kim Lien High School, and Nguyen Gia Thieu High School with 41.75 points.
The top 10 public high schools with the highest admission scores for grade 10 in Hanoi this year are mainly concentrated in Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, and Cau Giay districts.
Scores from 40 and above also include the following schools: Xuan Dinh and Cau Giay.
Doan Ket High School - Hai Ba Trung district is at the bottom of the list of 10 schools with the lowest 10th grade benchmark scores in 2024.
Compared to last year, the benchmark scores of top schools increased and decreased unevenly. However, the group of schools with increased benchmark scores increased very slightly by 0.25 points. Except for Thang Long School, which increased by 1.25 points.
Meanwhile, the group of schools with reduced benchmark scores decreased by 1-2 points.
This year's exam had the participation of 117,361 candidates. Of which, about 106,000 candidates registered their first choice for non-specialized grade 10.
The valedictorian with 48.5 points is student Nguyen Hoang Minh Quan of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
A total of 1,925 candidates scored 45 points or more, an average of 9 points/subject.
From the 40-point mark and above, 29,130 candidates passed. This number accounts for about 39.5% of the total target of 119 public high schools (excluding autonomous and jointly managed public schools).
This year, Hanoi assigned 119 public high schools to enroll 1,657 new classes and 73,695 students for grade 10.
Of which, 4 specialized schools and specialized classes recruited 82 new classes and 2,970 students.

The total target is 77,250 students. Compared to 2023, the total target increased by more than 1,500 students.
