That is one of the contents that the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Health have just requested of hospitals stated in the official dispatch directing medical examination and treatment facilities inside and outside the public sector.
The request was made after the investigation agency discovered a production and trading line of fake milk powder and fake functional foods.
The Department of Health also requires hospitals to inspect and supervise the information, advertising, marketing, prescription, consultation, labeling, and instructions for use of non-medicinal products that are used to prevent, treat, diagnose, treat, alleviate, or regulate physiological functions of the human body; advertising beyond the scope of practice or beyond the scope of professional activities approved by competent authorities; and taking advantage of medical knowledge to falsely advertise medical examinations and treatments.
With drug prescriptions, units need to regularly check, monitor, and compare the drug list and drugs used; monitor drug prescriptions and drug indications; monitor compliance with technical and professional procedures in departments.
At the same time, increase the participation of the drug and treatment council in prescribing, indicating, and using drugs for patients, ensuring that medical examination and treatment strictly comply with regulations; ensuring the rights and safety of patients.
The Hanoi Department of Health also requires medical examination and treatment facilities to prescribe drugs in accordance with diagnosis, disease status, necessity, right purpose, safety, rationality and effectiveness for patients; monitor adverse drug reactions (ADR) and implement drug interaction management activities, with the effective participation of the unit responsible for consulting and monitoring prescriptions in the hospital.
"Absolutely do not cover up or condone violations that affect patients' health," a representative of the Hanoi Department of Health affirmed.
Previously, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department (Ministry of Health) requested hospitals and medical facilities to rectify the advertising of food and functional foods. This agency believes that doctors, pharmacists, and medical staff participating in advertising food and functional foods that mislead users is a violation of the law.
"Using images of doctors to advertise functional foods is a violation of current regulations. The Food Safety Department is continuing to review and discipline violating companies," said Director of the Food Safety Department Tran Viet Nga.
