Hanoi officially issues time frame for 2024-2025 school year

Teachers and students of Newton 5 Primary and Secondary School.

According to regulations, Hanoi students return to school at least 1 week before the opening day. For first graders, they return to school at least 2 weeks before the opening day. The whole city will open the new school year on September 5, 2024.

Schools must finish the first semester before January 18, 2025; complete the program and end the school year before May 31, 2025; consider recognition of completion of primary school program and recognition of secondary school graduation before June 30, 2025; complete enrollment of first-level classes before July 31, 2025.

The 2025 high school graduation exam is scheduled to take place on June 26-27, 2025; other national exams will be organized according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The start date, end date of semester I (HKI); semester II (HKII) and end of the school year are as follows:

Holidays and Tet holidays are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guidelines. Teachers' annual leave is implemented during the summer vacation or can be arranged alternately at other times of the year to suit the specific characteristics and schedule of the school year.

The decision of the Hanoi People's Committee clearly states: The Director of the Department of Education and Training is responsible for directing all levels and sectors to strictly implement the 2024-2025 school year time plan; at the same time, advise and propose to the Chairman of the City People's Committee to decide to adjust the school year time plan, school break time and school year extension time in case of natural disasters and epidemics; for special cases arising, report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.
