Hanoi spends more than 39,000 billion VND to pay pensions and allowances

In 2023, the Hanoi Social Insurance sector surpassed the target in terms of health insurance coverage rate, number of participants in compulsory social insurance, voluntary social insurance and unemployment insurance.

Accordingly, the number of people participating in compulsory social insurance in Hanoi by the end of 2023 is more than 2 million people, an increase of 74,936 people (an increase of 3.78%) compared to 2022. This number accounts for 43.9% of the working-age workforce.

In addition, Hanoi's total revenue from social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance reached more than VND 61,455 billion, an increase of VND 7,240.7 billion (up 13.36%) compared to 2022.

Not only paying attention to developing social insurance participants, Deputy Director of Hanoi Social Insurance Vu Duc Thuat said that the city also pays great attention to resolving and paying social insurance and unemployment insurance benefits for participants.

In 2023, the regimes were resolved for 667,023 people with an amount of VND 8,477 billion, an increase of VND 1,217 billion compared to the previous year.

Monthly pension and social insurance benefits payments are all carried out accurately, safely and promptly. In 2023, the city's Social Insurance sector paid monthly pensions and social insurance benefits to 584,828 beneficiaries with a total amount of more than VND 39,103 billion, an increase of VND 4,687 billion compared to 2022.

Mr. Vu Duc Thuat said that the most important highlight in implementing Hanoi's social security policy in 2023 is the issuance of Resolution No. 13/2023/NQ-HDND by the Hanoi People's Council on December 6, 2023.

Accordingly, the Resolution stipulates the level of support for health insurance premiums for the elderly from 70 to 80 years old, people with mild disabilities, students in difficult circumstances, and people from agricultural, forestry and fishery households with an average living standard in the city in the period of 2024-2025.

Along with other support policies, in 2023, Hanoi paid an additional 30% support for health insurance premiums for people in near-poor households in addition to the central support level; a total of 45,535 people were supported, with an amount of over 12 billion VND.
