Ha Long will apply Internet of Things, AI, Blockchain in teaching

Ha Long City has plans to develop modern technologies in education such as the Internet of Things (IoT), applying artificial intelligence (AI) to teaching, big data and Blockchain will be widely applied from preschool to high school.


On November 14, the Ha Long City Party Committee organized a scientific conference with the theme "Developing Ha Long education in the new era - the era of national growth".

The workshop was attended by 400 delegates including scientists, experts, educational managers, leaders of agencies, units, localities, teachers, and school managers in the area.

Bringing AI into Teaching

According to Mr. Vu Quyet Tien, Secretary of Ha Long City Party Committee, in recent years, to improve the quality of education, the locality has invested more than 1,200 billion VND in infrastructure and human resources to serve teaching.

Ha Long invests heavily to soon enroll in UNESCO's global learning network

In the 2024-2025 school year alone, the city is renovating and repairing facilities at 68 schools with a budget of 41 billion VND, investing in building 9 new projects with a total amount of 151 billion VND, and purchasing and strengthening facilities and classrooms for 63 school units with a budget of 19 billion VND.

Up to now, the city has 70/117 schools meeting national standards, and it is expected that by the end of 2024, 87/117 schools will meet national standards (reaching 75%). All of this not only helps improve the quality of education, but also creates opportunities for people to learn for life and study regularly.

In addition, to implement the criteria for building a learning environment in the community, the city has deployed a set of criteria to evaluate and recognize learning models throughout the city such as "Learning Citizens", "Learning Families", "Learning Clans", "Learning Communities", and "Learning Units".

By the end of 2023, the number of families achieving "Learning Families" will be 90% of the total number of registered households and 83% of the total number of households in the city; "Learning Lines" will reach 72% of the total number of families; "Learning Communities" at the commune level will all be classified as good or better; 100% will achieve learning units.

According to Mr. Vu Quyet Tien, to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning, local management agencies are focusing on implementing digital transformation in education to build a smart learning ecosystem, where students, teachers, parents and schools can easily connect and interact with each other.

Notably, the city has plans to develop modern technologies in education such as the Internet of Things (IoT), bringing artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching, big data and Blockchain will be widely applied from preschool to high school, to modernize the education system and build a comprehensive, connected learning environment; create conditions for personalizing learning, managing student and teacher information scientifically and accurately.

Enroll in a global learning network

Ms. Vi Thi Bich Hanh, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Long City, said that one of the key tasks in the coming time of the local education sector is to enroll in UNESCO's global learning network.

"Joining the UNESCO Global Learning Cities Network helps Ha Long residents have more favorable conditions to exchange ideas, knowledge and experiences with other member cities around the world; at the same time, enhance prestige and recognition from the international community as well as increase the ability to attract investment and human resources," said Ms. Hanh.

To soon be enrolled in UNESCO's global learning network, according to Professor Dr. Nguyen Quy Thanh, Principal of the University of Education (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Ha Long City in the new era needs to focus on solutions such as building and implementing the development of Ha Long's human resources in a progressive and modern direction; enhancing the discovery, training and use of talents; ensuring the quality and standardization of the team of nannies and preschool teachers; innovating educational management and promoting autonomy in schools; policies on tuition exemption and reduction and financial support for students...

Giving advice for the educational development of Ha Long City in the new era, Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Huu Duc, former Vice President of Hanoi National University, said that Ha Long is aiming for green innovation education, through analyzing 8 important aspects of education 6.0 when combining innovation and entrepreneurship, including: green startup thinking and innovation for sustainable development; education programs on innovation and sustainable development; technology to support innovation and entrepreneurship; developing a green startup ecosystem in schools; training soft skills and entrepreneurial thinking; international cooperation and participation in the global community; implementing policies to support sustainable startups in education; building and implementing a green innovation education ranking.
