Jude Bellingham's form for Real Madrid in the 2023-2024 season has carried over to the England national team, as he scored his first goal for England at EURO 2024.
England kicked off their Group C campaign against Serbia, with manager Gareth Southgate fielding his best players. The opening goal came in the 13th minute when Bellingham headed in a cross from Bukayo Saka.
It seemed as though the early goal would give England a better position and lead to further goals. However, Serbia's determination made it quite difficult for Jordan Pickford and his teammates to protect their lead.
England secured 3 points in their opening match and quickly took the top spot in Group C, as Denmark drew 1-1 with Slovenia in their previous game.
Notably, Christian Eriksen scored the opening goal for Denmark, marking exactly 1,100 days since he suffered a cardiac arrest during a match at EURO 2020.
Despite dominating the game, Denmark conceded an equalizer in the 77th minute, leaving them with only one point.
Eriksen currently plays for Manchester United, while another former "Red Devils" player, Wout Weghorst, also scored for the club.
But unlike Eriksen, Weghorst became the hero when he helped the Netherlands come from behind to beat Poland 2-1 in Group D.
