Jude Bellingham's form for Real Madrid in the 2023-24 season has been carried over to England, as he scored his first goal for England at EURO 2024.
The Three Lions started Group C against Serbia, with coach Gareth Southgate fielding his best players. The goal came for the English team in the 13th minute, when Bellingham headed in a cross from Bukayo Saka.
It seemed that the early goal would help England have a more favorable position and continue to score more goals. However, the determination of the Serbian team made it quite difficult for Jordan Pickford and his teammates to protect the result.
England got 3 points on the opening day and soon took the top spot in Group C, because in the previous match, Denmark drew 1-1 with Slovenia.
Notably, Christian Eriksen opened the scoring for the Danish team, marking exactly 1,100 days since he suffered a cardiac arrest during a match at EURO 2020.
Although they dominated the game, Denmark let their opponent score an equalizer in the 77th minute, so they only got 1 point.
Eriksen is now playing for Manchester United, while another former Red Devils player, Wout Weghorst, also got on the scoresheet.
But unlike Eriksen, Weghorst became a hero when he helped the Netherlands come back to beat Poland 2-1 in Group D.
