Contribute to complete the project "Enhancing the value and diversity of Tuyet Diem salt products"

On April 22, a delegation from the Global Environment Facility under the United Nations Development Program (GEF SGP - UNDP) conducted a field survey of salt-making villages to contribute ideas to complete the project "Enhancing the value and diversity of Tuyet Diem salt products" proposed by the Provincial Farmers' Association in Xuan Binh commune (Song Cau town).

During the survey, after listening to the representative of Xuan Binh Commune People's Committee briefly introduce the history of Tuyet Diem salt village, share the difficulties in the production process and the development orientation of the local craft village, the delegation went to the field to grasp the situation of salt making activities in salt fields, traditional salt kilns and visited the Tuyet Diem salt product display area; met and discussed with households working in the profession, encouraging them to continue to preserve and promote the tradition of the craft village; improve the quality, develop a variety of salt products to increase economic value, develop community tourism. In addition, the delegation discussed ideas for developing new products, recorded opinions from local leaders, Tuyet Diem salt production cooperative and the craft village community on the project model in the coming time.

Mr. Phan Xuan Hanh, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, said that the project's goal is to contribute to improving sustainable livelihoods and climate change adaptation for the Tuyet Diem salt farming community through the application of appropriate technology, developing value-added salt products, preserving traditional craft villages and linking with community tourism . Therefore, after the field survey, the delegation will have a working session with representatives of leaders of departments, branches, the Provincial Tourism Association, etc. to contribute ideas to complete the GEF SGP project proposal in the direction of integrating livelihoods, technology, culture, and community tourism; at the same time, propose a coordination mechanism and professional support from departments, branches and related organizations during the project implementation process if funded.
