Contribute to preserving and building Lao Cai human culture

Right in the first issue of the Lao Cai Doi Moi Newspaper, published on April 10, 1963, there was an article "Pho Lu Commune, Bao Thang District accepted to compete with Quang Kim Commune, Bat Xat District to ensure all 7 targets assigned by the district and also challenged 4 more points". Among the 4 challenging points was "commitment to complete mosquito spraying before April 3, 1963 to ensure summer disease prevention among the people" - this was a topical content of that time, which was also a way to build a cultural life for the people through propaganda to build a hygienic and progressive lifestyle. These orientations and methods were still maintained and promoted by Lao Cai Newspaper throughout the development journey of Lao Cai Newspaper.

In particular, after the Party Central Committee (11th tenure) issued Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014 on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development; Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU dated August 27, 2021 on building and developing Lao Cai culture and people to meet the requirements of integration and sustainable development, Lao Cai Newspaper has made efforts to inform and propagate the building of Lao Cai culture and people to develop comprehensively, towards truth - goodness - beauty, imbued with national spirit, humanity, democracy, and strengthening the spirit of solidarity in the ethnic communities in the province.

As a local Party newspaper, clearly aware of the role, position and responsibility, implementing the newspaper's principles and purposes in building and developing culture for a province with a large number of ethnic minorities, Lao Cai Newspaper has developed a plan and action program closely following the 5 goals, 6 tasks, and 4 solutions stated in Resolution No. 33 and the contents of Resolution No. 09 of the Provincial Party Committee. Accordingly, the content focuses on propagating the construction of a healthy cultural environment on the basis of the good traditions of the homeland; promoting the movement to build a new cultural lifestyle; promoting the role of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels in participating in the Movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" and the Campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas" ... creating a healthy and livable cultural environment in each commune, ward, town, village and hamlet. From there, foster patriotism, national pride, and nurture the souls of Lao Cai people comprehensively.

Lao Cai Newspaper has developed and coordinated with departments, branches and localities in the province to deploy hundreds of topics on printed and electronic newspapers with thousands of press works (articles, press photos) to comprehensively promote culture and preserve the culture of ethnic groups. In addition to articles written by reporters, Lao Cai Newspaper has also expanded its network of collaborators, especially with the participation of experts and researchers on culture, literature and arts... contributing to improving the quality of works, creating a more multi-dimensional and in-depth view of Lao Cai culture and people.

Not only innovating in content, in recent years, Lao Cai Newspaper has been very creative in promoting the construction of Lao Cai culture and people according to the specific characteristics of each publication and readership, this is even more noticeable in Lao Cai Electronic Newspaper. Promoting the advantage of fast, multi-dimensional information, unlimited interaction with readers, Lao Cai Electronic Newspaper has focused on producing and posting high-quality products. From this orientation, special pages and topics, such as Building a cultural life; Discussing together; Lao Cai stories of past and present professions; OCOP Lao Cai... have been born. Special pages and topics provide more in-depth information, thereby fully introducing issues that readers are interested in related to each topic. For example, through the OCOP Lao Cai website, hundreds of products of Lao Cai farmers have been introduced and promoted, such as Seng Cu Muong Khuong rice, Tham Duong sticky rice, Ban Pho corn wine, San Lung rice wine, etc., thereby contributing to the protection of traditional occupations as well as the identity of ethnic groups. Or the Lao Cai website, "Old and New Craft Stories", introduces to readers the production process and traditional cultural values ​​of weaving, forging, drum making, etc. of ethnic groups, thereby serving the development of local tourism. This also contributes to promoting the image and people of Lao Cai in production, daily life, and building a new life.

After more than 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee (11th tenure) on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development, Lao Cai Newspaper has had over 30 works winning press awards organized by the central government and nearly 200 works winning provincial press awards. Lao Cai Newspaper is also one of the few local party newspapers with reporters winning the ASEAN Press Photo Award.

From April 1, 2025, Lao Cai Newspaper and Lao Cai Provincial Radio and Television Station will merge. Lao Cai Newspaper will continue to have two more types of press, namely radio and television, which will have more strength to do better in propaganda work on building and developing Lao Cai culture and people, contributing significantly to raising awareness of cadres, party members and people about the role of culture in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland in the era of national development.

Reality shows that the lesson of innovating propaganda work, bringing the Party's Resolution into life, creating a spillover effect in economic development associated with promoting and preserving traditional culture of ethnic groups, contributing to building Lao Cai culture and people to meet new requirements, which are: Proactively studying the content of resolutions to have short-term and long-term propaganda orientations according to each topic and theme; building and implementing columns and topics on publications associated with local practices, close to the culture of indigenous ethnic groups; proactively innovating the form of expression and implementing multi-platform publishing. At the same time, focusing on strengthening training in journalism skills and social responsibility for the team of journalists. From there, better demonstrating the role of the press in preserving, maintaining and promoting national cultural identity, spreading the spirit, will and mettle of the people of Lao Cai ethnic groups.
