Google "cracks down"

Recently, Google announced plans to remove pornographic content that abuses deepfake technology. This move comes as the technology is being used for malicious purposes or to spread misinformation. Deepfake is where a person's face or body has been digitally altered into an image or video .

Deepfakes will soon be suppressed.
Deepfakes will soon be suppressed.

Although users can already request the removal of images from Google Search, new systems are now being developed to make this process easier. Specifically, when a user requests the removal of unauthorized, fake content featuring them from Search, Google's system filters relevant results on similar search pages. Copies of the image can be processed simultaneously, helping to prevent deepfakes.

Google's solution has been tested and proven effective in addressing other types of controversial images.

Accordingly, the company is making it harder for websites containing deepfake images to appear in search results because of this fake content. Google will reportedly roll out ranking updates to lower the ranking of websites with fake content.

This new feature marks a new step in finding even more solutions to address the deepfake problem.
