As one of the earliest gardeners to set up shop at the flower market on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Hoi An City, Mr. Nguyen Kim Nhut's family and his two children, Nguyen Kim Hung and Nguyen Kim Anh (Bau Sung block (Thanh Ha) also displayed the most valuable kumquat pots.
Among more than 1,000 kumquat trees for sale during Tet, Mr. Hung and his son are very proud of the kumquat tree that is considered the 'biggest' in the largest kumquat village in the Central region.
In the vacant lot on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, which has just been cleared and filled with kumquat trees for sale for Tet, Mr. Nhut pointed to a kumquat tree about 4 meters high and with a canopy several arm spans wide.
"This kumquat pot is now considered by gardeners to be the largest in Thanh Ha, Cam Ha - the largest kumquat bonsai growing area in the Central region. I have been taking care of this tree for over 10 years now. Not only is the main tree's diameter very large, but many main branches grow from the main tree and spread out into the air.
This year, thanks to good care, the family will continue to keep this kumquat tree to participate in the kumquat bonsai fair. Last year, this tree won the highest prize," said Mr. Nhut.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Hung, Mr. Nhut's son, said the "giant" kumquat tree is the pride of the father and son after decades of keeping the profession.
This year, this kumquat tree continues to grow well, with berries, many shoots, and both green and ripe fruit, buds, and young shoots. For players, these are the criteria to determine the value of a kumquat tree.
To bring the kumquat pot to the display location, Mr. Hung said he had to hire a large crane to load and unload.

"We haven't thought about selling it yet, but keep it to display every Tet holiday for people and guests to watch and compete.
"When we win the highest prize, we will send it to customers to rent for an average price of 20 - 40 million VND depending on the year. This year, the price of kumquat trees has increased, so we hope the rental price will be higher," said Mr. Hung.
This year, the entire Hoi An kumquat region has brought over 70,000 pots to the market. The market price of kumquat has generally increased by 15-20%. Up to now, most people have sold 80% wholesale, the rest is kept for retail to local players and for competitions.
