Located at 1 Quang Trung, Da Lat station (66.5 m long, 11.4 m wide, 11 m high) was designed by two French architects Moncet and Revéron. The project was put into operation from 1938 to 1972 on the 84 km long Da Lat - Thap Cham railway line. This line has a section that has to cross Song Pha pass (1,000 m high, 12% slope), to ensure safety, 16 km must use cog rails (*).
The building combines French architecture (domes, stained glass windows...) and Vietnamese indigenous architecture (three main peaked roofs stylized from the Central Highlands communal house, or Langbiang mountains with a tiled roof system at the base of the peak sloping out like the mountainside). In front, there is also a clock face recording the time when Dr. Yersin discovered the Langbiang plateau (3:30 p.m. on June 21, 1893).

(*): Each locomotive is equipped with a one-way gear system (so that when the engine stops, the train does not slide downhill). When climbing the pass, this gear will "fit tightly" with the cogwheel row between the two rails. This unique cogwheel rail used to only exist in Da Lat and Switzerland, unfortunately it no longer exists in Da Lat. In April 2023, the world's leading train manufacturing group Stadler (Switzerland) wanted to participate in the project to restore the Da Lat - Thap Cham cogwheel railway.
