Helping farmers develop their economy.

Over the years, thanks to access to and effective use of loan capital from the Farmers' Support Fund (HTND) and the Social Policy Bank (CSXH), many farmer association member families in Giap Lai commune, Thanh Son district, have been able to invest in developing models suitable to local conditions, bringing economic benefits to their families.

Thanks to loans and support in the form of breeding stock from the Farmers' Association, the commercial chicken farming model of Mr. Pham Thanh Tam in Zone 8, Giap Lai commune, Thanh Son district has brought stable income to his family.

The family of Mr. Pham Thanh Tam in Zone 8, Giap Lai commune, is one of the nine members of the chicken farming cooperative who benefited from the Farmers' Cooperative Fund and received support in the form of breeding stock under the project "Application of microbial preparations in commercial chicken farming in a biosafety-oriented manner".

In a conversation with us, Mr. Tam shared: "Previously, my family raised chickens on a small scale. In 2015, I started focusing on building a commercial chicken farming model. In 2020, I joined the Giap Lai Commune Commercial Chicken Farming Cooperative and received a 50 million VND loan from the Farmers' Association fund to develop the model. In 2022, I continued to receive support from the Commune Farmers' Association with 300 chicks and over 500 kg of feed from a project of the Central Association to expand the model. To date, I have built 8 coops with more than 10,000 chickens using a staggered rearing method, bringing in an income of over 500 million VND per year."

Formerly a poor household, but thanks to their determination and hard work, coupled with the support of the Farmers' Association of the commune in providing preferential loans of 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank for production investment, Mr. Bui Van Toan's family in Zone 1 has seen their economic situation improve significantly. Mr. Toan shared: "Previously, my family was classified as a poor household, with many children and grandchildren, and lacked capital for farming, so life was very difficult. In 2022, thanks to the loan support, my family invested in a model of planting eucalyptus trees, cassava, rice, and raising livestock, each with short-term gains to support long-term growth. To date, this model brings in over 100 million VND per year, and our family's life is gradually stabilizing..."

These are just some of the farmer members in Giap Lai commune who have received preferential loans from the commune's Farmers' Association to help them develop their economy. Besides that, farmer members throughout the commune are always united, sharing experiences and helping each other in economic activities. Typical examples of this movement include several high-income models such as member Dinh Van Cuong with his commercial chicken farming model generating 200 million VND/year, member Nguyen Thi Nhuong with her pig farming model generating 300 million VND/year, and members Nguyen Duy Thanh and Ha Duc Tu with their forest planting and timber harvesting models, generating billions of VND in income and creating jobs for 5 to 7 workers with an income of 9 million VND/month.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, Chairman of the Giap Lai Commune Farmers' Association, said: The Giap Lai Commune Farmers' Association currently has 473 members, operating in 7 farmers' branches and 1 commercial chicken farming cooperative. To facilitate members' access to preferential loan sources such as the Farmers' Support Fund and loans from the Policy Bank to develop the economy, create jobs, and increase income, helping members escape poverty, the Commune Farmers' Association has acted as a guarantor to support members in borrowing 300 million VND from the Farmers' Support Fund and over 4.9 billion VND from the Policy Bank; and supplied over 16 tons of NPK fertilizer. In addition, the Association regularly provides information on the agricultural market, advises members and farmers on agricultural product prices, quality standards, technological products serving agricultural production, and access to e-commerce platforms...

To date, 320 households have registered as outstanding farmers in production and business at all levels, and all households comply with occupational safety and hygiene regulations in production and livestock farming. Some business households have actively signed commitments regarding food safety and hygiene. Thanks to this, the Association has helped many farmer members escape poverty, striving to reduce the poverty rate to 4.7% by the end of 2024.
