Paying attention to and choosing appropriate and effective traditional education forms for students is one of the important tasks and solutions to contribute to improving the quality of comprehensive education. Therefore, the Provincial Museum has coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Tanh Linh district to organize an exhibition of paintings about local cultural heritage.
In the spacious campus of the school, more than 650 students and teachers of Lac Tanh 1 Primary School were able to enjoy viewing and learning about local heritage through paintings drawn by students. From the perspective of children about cultural heritage, through the innocent brushstrokes of school age, historical - cultural relics, architectural art, scenic spots, rituals, festivals, customs, traditional crafts... of ethnic groups living in the province were vividly, simply, and innocently expressed through many materials. In addition, students in Tanh Linh mountainous area also learned about charts and maps - historical evidence of Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands. Thereby, they had a deeper understanding of the position, role, and potential of seas and islands in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Guiding students to view the paintings, Ms. Huynh Thi Ngoc Ha - Principal of Lac Tanh 1 Primary School said: "Organizing extracurricular lessons associated with propaganda about local historical and cultural relics is an effective and necessary form of education and is the right direction, in line with current educational requirements. Through the displayed paintings, students learn many skills, how to use drawing materials, and creative thinking in fine arts. From there, it encourages them to learn about heritage and historical values and relate more clearly to the important issues and events of the nation that are taking place."
Cat Hoang Gia Nhi – class 4C and her friends after viewing the paintings all felt interested in the knowledge presented by the teachers. From there, it helped us expand our knowledge and understanding of heritage, as well as the history of our ancestors’ struggle to build and defend the country.
Mr. Doan Van Thuan - Director of the Provincial Museum said: The coordination with schools to educate students about traditions through cultural heritage has been carried out by the Provincial Museum and the Provincial Department of Education and Training for many years, using many methods. These include taking students to visit museums and relics directly; drawing contests about relics, ethnic cultural colors or organizing extracurricular activities, mobile exhibitions to promote and introduce the system of artifacts displayed at the museum and introduce cultural heritage paintings at schools... Fortunately, the programs have received good feedback from teachers, students and parents. The students love history and national traditions more, have the desire to visit and learn about historical relics to enrich their knowledge, and foster their love for their homeland and country.
According to the new general education program, lessons on local history and culture in the fields of literature, history, geography, etc. are included in the curriculum. Therefore, through extracurricular hours to learn about cultural heritage, it will contribute to innovating teaching methods, linking theory with practice. At the same time, it will contribute to forming and perfecting personality, raising awareness and responsibility for the younger generation in preserving, conserving and promoting the traditions and values of the nation's cultural heritage.
