Preserving and promoting traditional cultural beauty in the family

Family is the cell of society, an important environment for forming, nurturing and educating human personality. Therefore, preserving and promoting the beauty of traditional culture in the family is the core foundation for building an equal, progressive and civilized society.

Vietnamese cultural traditions always value the close relationship between family members, considering behavioral culture as the core factor that creates cohesion. The good traditional cultural values ​​of the family are expressed through "family ethics", "family customs" and "family rites".

Based on the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation, Vietnamese families through many generations have formed and developed noble moral standards such as respect for elders, harmony, loyalty, affection, sacrifice for children, respect and filial piety to grandparents, parents, siblings, love and care for each other, studiousness, diligence and creativity in labor and production.

However, in the strong development of society, besides the spiritual and material life of families being improved and enhanced, the trend of promoting material values ​​and individualism has been and is at risk of changing the concept of traditional family values, going against values, ethics, and customs, causing the connection between family members to gradually become loose.

To preserve and promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the family in the process of integration and development, the Party and State always emphasize the importance and implement many solutions to build, preserve and promote the fine traditions of Vietnamese families.

To specify Directive No. 06 dated June 24, 2021 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in family building in the new situation, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a plan and implemented it with specific goals and solutions, including perfecting the Provincial Steering Committee on state management of family; promoting extensive propaganda to the people about the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence, the Law on Gender Equality, the Law on Marriage and Family, the Law on Children; implementing the "Set of criteria for conduct in the family"...

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organizes training courses to improve professional skills for female cadres and grassroots cultural cadres on mediation work; coordinates with localities, units and organizations to organize many activities associated with the movements "Building happy families", "Exemplary grandparents and parents, filial children and grandchildren", "All people unite to build a cultural life, civilized urban areas", "All people unite to build new rural areas"...

Building and maintaining many effective clubs and models that contribute to building happy, prosperous, progressive and civilized families such as the "Sustainable Family Development" club, "Happy Family", the "Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence" group, the "Trusted Address" model... Thereby contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of the whole society about the role and position of the family, actively preserving and promoting the good traditions of the Vietnamese family.

As a family of 4 generations, despite the age gap, the members of Mr. Le Van Chien's family in Thien Ke commune (Binh Xuyen) always live together in harmony and happiness thanks to caring, sharing, and understanding each other.

Mr. Chien shared: “Living in a multi-generational family with many differences in thinking and lifestyle, I always advise my children and grandchildren to preserve moral values, lifestyles, and behaviors that are appropriate to traditional customs, especially the tradition of “Respect for elders and yield to juniors”, children and grandchildren must be filial to grandparents and parents, siblings must love and take care of each other to create a strong bond in the family”.

Building a happy family is the foundation for building a prosperous and happy community and nation. Preserving and promoting good family traditions, each person must always be aware of behavioral culture to multiply love and cherish happy moments with family.

In addition, it is necessary to have the participation of Party committees at all levels, authorities, and functional sectors, continue to strengthen propaganda, raise public awareness of preserving and promoting good traditional family values, selectively absorb good family values ​​in modern society; at the same time, consolidate, improve and develop the team of cadres doing family work at the grassroots level, improve state management capacity, and meet the requirements of family work tasks in the new situation...
