Joining the atmosphere to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), many coffee shops in Tay Ninh city have created a trend of decorating their shops with the theme of Vietnam's revolutionary tradition with colorful flags and symbolic images reminiscent of the day of national liberation.
Re-enact the scene of victory day
Coming to the Everyday Coffee Shop (Ward 4, Tay Ninh City) these days, customers will be surprised by the scene of the shop covered with national flags, logos, and banners celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. This is a creative idea of the Gen Z shop owner - Nguyen Phu Quoc with the desire to remind customers, especially young people, about the day of national victory.
He shared: “I grew up with stories told by my grandmother, who was a liaison for the army. From those stories, I was nurtured with national pride, wanting to learn more about the heroic feats of our ancestors. And when I have the opportunity, I also want to recreate a little bit.”
Mr. Nguyen Phu Quoc said that to carry out this idea, he searched for information and propaganda images about April 30, 1975 on official information sites, then asked friends who have knowledge in the cultural field to advise on how to hang the flag and use propaganda images in accordance with regulations.
“Decorating the shop according to propaganda themes must follow regulations to be able to spread beautiful, standard images to young people, so that they can correctly understand the good historical values of the nation” – Mr. Quoc shared.
The highlight of the cafe is the miniature scene recreating the bicycle transporting weapons, food and accessories such as scarves and conical hats, reminiscent of the soldiers of the liberation army, the children of Vietnam who sacrificed for the independence and liberation of the nation. Visitors to the cafe can freely use these accessories to take photos completely free of charge.
Besides, during these days, Mr. Quoc also delicately played songs with themes of love for homeland, country, and revolutionary traditions to create an exciting atmosphere to welcome one of the nation's great holidays.
“After more than 2 weeks of implementing the idea, my shop has received many positive responses from customers coming to the shop to drink coffee. Among them, there are many compliments from the elderly. Young people are very excited because they have beautiful photos to post on social networks to celebrate the upcoming April 30th holiday. I am very happy to be able to contribute a small part in promoting cultural values, history, and national pride to everyone” – Mr. Quoc expressed.
Brilliant but no less meaningful, Nep Coffee Shop (Ward 3, Tay Ninh City) these days is also dressed in the brilliant colors of flags and flowers along with propaganda paintings about April 30.
Propaganda photos are hung all over the shop, miniature scenes are recreated meaningfully, making the space of the shop become lively, full of national cultural colors. The biggest highlight in this space is the brilliant red of the National Flag - the red of patriotism, of the blood and bones of our ancestors and of a time of aspiration for peace.
The restaurant also wants to introduce the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam to diners and young people so that they always remember the armed forces with great contributions in the war to regain independence and freedom for South Vietnam, connecting a strip of land between the South and the North.
In particular, the shop also solemnly dedicates an eye-catching area in the shop to display Uncle Ho's photos and items related to him - a particularly meaningful highlight of Nep cafe. Thereby reminding the younger generation to deeply express their gratitude and appreciation for the great leader of the nation.
Nguyen Thi Truc Ngan - an employee of Nep Coffee shared that the day of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country on April 30, 1975 - an important historical milestone, carrying sacred meaning to every Vietnamese person. In the heroic atmosphere towards the anniversary, Nep Coffee wishes to bring a space imbued with Vietnamese culture, where historical memories are recreated through every small detail.
From the red flag with yellow star, the country's map, the old-style propaganda posters, to the images reminiscent of a glorious time of struggle - all together create a special space, where people not only enjoy coffee but also feel the national spirit deeply.
Spreading national pride to young people
Not only beautifying the space of the shop, the decoration ideas following the theme of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country are also a vivid way of propaganda, helping young people express their love for their homeland and country, and show gratitude for the sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers for the independence, freedom and peace of the nation.
Nguyen Thi Truc Ngan - an employee of Nep Coffee Shop said: "From the very first days of opening, Nep Coffee Shop has always wanted to bring the beauty of Tay Ninh culture in particular and the Vietnamese spirit in general to everyone. Therefore, on every big holiday - especially this April 30th, the shop also wants to send meaningful messages alongside delicious cups of coffee.
When coming to Nep, people not only enjoy familiar flavors, but also immerse themselves in the heroic April atmosphere - a sacred moment of the nation. From there, love for the homeland is nurtured, gratitude is aroused and national identity continues to be preserved and spread.
From a special space, these shops have become "hot" places where many young people from near and far come to "check-in" in the atmosphere of the whole country preparing to welcome the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Many young people expressed that they really felt like they were reliving the sacred and heroic moment of the nation.
When coming to the Everyday Coffee shop, Nguyen Tran Gia Thinh, a 10C4 student at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School (Tay Ninh City) shared that he was impressed with the decoration of the shop on the theme of Vietnamese culture and national history. Under the brilliant scene of red flags with yellow stars, he felt very proud and grateful to the heroes, wounded soldiers, and martyrs who sacrificed their blood so that we can live in a peaceful, independent, and free country like today.
Sharing the same feeling, Phan Anh Hoai (living in Ben Cau district) said that he accidentally saw a post about a coffee shop decorated to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country on social networks, so he learned about Nep Coffee Shop (Ward 3, Tay Ninh city). Impressed with the decoration of the shop, Mr. Hoai invited his friends to experience this meaningful space and take a photo album to commemorate the April 30 holiday.
Anh Hoai said: “We plan to share beautiful photos taken at the restaurant to celebrate the April 30 holiday on social networks. This is also a way for us to express our love for our homeland and country to everyone.”
