The race to invest in private education in Vietnam began a decade ago. In recent years, it has become stronger with the participation of many corporations from other fields pouring money in.

Many large corporations in Vietnam did not start out in education but later expanded into this field. Entering the industry with the label of "non-professionals", schools were opened with different steps, making this field more diverse and competitive...

Mr. Nang "Jewish" and the trillion-dollar investment in Phenikaa

In 2019, an event that attracted attention in the education sector was the launch of Phenikaa University. The owner of this school is A&A Green Phoenix Group (Phenikaa Group) with Mr. Ho Xuan Nang as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Ho Xuan Nang - a businessman from Nam Dinh with the nickname "Jewish Nang", talked about the reason for opening the school: The development of each country depends largely on its own internal strength. To build internal strength, one of the important tasks is to arouse and properly promote intelligence, talent, and brainpower.

Affirming its non-profit operation, Phenikaa University receives full sponsorship from Phenikaa Group. "All revenues from the school's operations and sponsorships will be reinvested to develop the school," the group announced.

Along with launching the university, Mr. Nang also established the Phenikaa innovation fund with an initial investment of VND1,000 billion from the group's after-tax profit.

According to the financial report of A&A Green Phoenix Group, consolidated profit after tax in the first 6 months of 2024 reached nearly 514 billion VND, an increase of 32% over the same period.

In the ecosystem led by Mr. Nang, an important contribution to profits comes from Vicostone - a quartz stone manufacturer with the main export market being the US.

In the first 9 months of this year, Vicostone's revenue reached more than 3,223 billion VND, after-tax profit was 617 billion VND, both increased compared to the same period.

Mr. Nang is also currently in the top 9 richest people on the Vietnamese stock market with assets of more than 8,000 billion VND.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh: A businessman with a lot of "destiny" with the education industry

Mr. Truong Gia Binh - Chairman of FPT Corporation, a businessman with a background in education - has also been increasing investment in the education sector. Mr. Binh is in the top 7 richest people on the stock market with more than 11,000 billion VND.

Regarding FPT, this corporation is known for specializing in technology and has a leading position in Vietnam. However, expanding into the education sector, this sector also accounts for a significant proportion of FPT's revenue structure.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh directly teaches many programs.

According to a report from FPT, with its expanded presence in provinces and cities across the country, the group's education sector recorded a 16.2% increase in revenue over the same period last year, reaching VND5,155 billion in the first 9 months of this year.

In 1999, FPT began to enter the education sector when it opened the FPT Aptech international programmer training center and then established FPT University.

FPT Education Organization (FPT Education) was later named FPT Education Company Limited, 100% owned by FPT Corporation.

Currently, FPT has primary, middle and high schools; colleges, universities and postgraduates; international links, international student development...

The richest man in Vietnam does education in a "billionaire" way

Entering the education sector and succeeding with the Vinschool chain of inter-level schools, in 2018 Vingroup continued to attract attention when announcing the establishment of Vin University (VinUni).

According to a statement from Vingroup, VinUni will develop education and training majors in three key areas: business, technology and health sciences. The total initial investment capital is up to 6,500 billion VND.

As soon as entering the field of university training, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's group set a goal for VinUni to be in the top 50 best young schools in the world.

VinUni school system is invested with thousands of billions

With this "seemingly impossible" destination, Vingroup builds a non-profit training model according to international standards, integrating elite models of world university education.

The training program is highly rated and the infrastructure is invested in a classy way, so VinUni also offers a reasonable tuition fee.

Accordingly, the tuition fee per academic year for undergraduate students at this school is approximately more than 800 million VND...

In addition to the above corporations, recent years have seen many "famous names" entering the education sector, such as: Mr. Dang Van Thanh's TTC Group with the acquisition of Yersin University in Dalat, Bcons Group launching the B.SCHOOL inter-level school...

Free tuition offers equal opportunities for Zambians, leading to a brighter future, but the rapid increase in student numbers poses a challenge to maintaining quality education.
