From early morning, many households in the village gathered at the ancestral temple of Phuoc Kieu bronze casting village in neat clothes, offering incense, fruits and other offerings to show gratitude to the village and craft ancestors.
This is the death anniversary ceremony of Khong Lo and Zen master Giac Hai - the ancestors of Phuoc Kieu casting village; at the same time, it commemorates the predecessors of previous generations, praying for the people's business to be smooth and favorable.
Phuoc Kieu bronze casting village is one of the oldest remaining craft villages in Quang Nam province. The village was formed about 400 years ago.
However, currently, the number of households still practicing the profession is only about 10, most of whom are old artisans and workers. There are very few young people in Phuoc Kieu village who follow in their fathers' footsteps.
The main products of Phuoc Kieu craft village such as: temple gongs, incense burners, candlesticks, traditional musical instruments... are made entirely by hand, ensuring meticulousness, refinement, and the highest level of perfection.
Artisan Duong Ngoc Tien - Director of Dong Phuoc Kieu Trading Service Company Limited shared that the village's products have partly contributed to the cultural space of gongs in the Central Highlands.
"There were times when we went to the villages and heard the sound of gongs, we were very happy and proud. Hopefully the State will have investment projects to preserve the cultural identity of the Central Highlands people, through which it can be an open direction to revive the prosperous Phuoc Kieu craft village as before" - Mr. Tien hoped.
