On the afternoon of November 5, many artists came to Dinh Thanh Pagoda, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City to offer flowers in memory of Meritorious Artist Ut Bach Lan.

Although she left the stage 8 years ago, the White Orchid Club she founded and the Lac Long Quan Theater Club - where she worked for many years - still organize performances to serve many cultural programs for lonely elderly people and orphaned children with disabilities, following her last wishes.

This year, Meritorious Artist Phuong Hong Thuy returned to Vietnam to participate in the School Stage program, and also spent time to pay respects at Dinh Thanh Pagoda, where the portrait of the senior artist she considered her mother is located. Artist Thanh Hang also vowed to be vegetarian during this time to commemorate the great contributions of "sorrowful woman" Ut Bach Lan to the career of reformed theater.

"I learned many valuable lessons from my mother, which is the love for the younger generation to follow in her footsteps. She was once a leading actress on stage, always caring and sharing with the unfortunate. She has spread love to the generations of artists after her, always living a decent life with her profession" - artist Thanh Hang said emotionally.

Meritorious Artist Phuong Hong Thuy also became a vegetarian during this time. She clearly remembers the teachings of Ut Bach Lan's mother. "Back then, when I came to Saigon from the Dong Nai Opera troupe, I was given shelter by Ut's mother, adopted by her and taught her the profession. She is a whole sky of love and longing for me. Even though 8 years have passed, I always feel like she is by my side, following my footsteps on the path of art" - Meritorious Artist Phuong Hong Thuy said with emotion.

Meritorious Artist To Chau is still the head of the White Orchid Club. He said that in recent years, the club has been operating normally, and the roles of "sorrowful woman" have all been performed by People's Artist Thoai Mieu. The club still maintains the image before the performance, no matter where they perform, the artists always set up an altar to burn incense, and pay tribute to her witness to the White Orchid Club that she established for charity purposes.

Over the years, the White Orchid Club has given charity gifts to help the poor and taken care of children of artists in difficult circumstances so they can go to school.

Meritorious Artist Thanh Nguyet and her husband, artist Quoc Nhi, came to burn incense. She said: "What remains in this life when mentioning Ut Bach Lan is the personality of an artist who devoted herself completely to the stage until her last breath. That is a shining example for future generations to follow."
