Ms. Tam (56 years old), who lives at the corner of Viet Duc 2 intersection, Ea Ktur commune, Cu Kuin district, still trembles when recounting the moment she saw a group of dangerous people murder Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Tieu commune, in the early morning of June 11.
Many days after the serious incident in Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes of Cu Kuin district, Ms. Tam and her husband still stay home, haunted by the events that happened before their eyes.
Mrs. Tam said: “It was after 1am, we heard a loud explosion like a gunshot, my husband and I woke up. We were still in shock, when we heard the second explosion, my husband and I ran to the front of the house to see what was happening.
Through the glass door, my husband and I saw a group of people surrounding a car, about 30m from the Viet Duc 2 intersection. The car lights were still on, the street lights shone in, I clearly saw a group of people wearing camouflage, holding guns, knives, hammers... In the driver's seat, there was a man lying down, half of his body on the ground... Witnessing that scene, my husband and I trembled.
Thinking there was a fight, Mrs. Tam called her sister to ask the village chief to call the police to handle the situation.
“It took nearly 10 minutes for the group of dozens of people to leave, but we still did not dare to leave the house to see if the person lying in the car was injured. Nearly half an hour later, when it was quiet, we dared to open the door, and neither did the neighbors around, no one dared to come near,” Ms. Tam recounted.
When the authorities arrived to investigate the scene, it was not until morning that Mrs. Tam and her neighbors learned what had just happened. That was when a dangerous group of people attacked the headquarters of the People's Committee of 2 communes and the person in the car who was murdered was the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Tieu Commune, Nguyen Van Dung.
“If my husband and I had opened the door at that time, it would have been difficult to survive. That group of people were extremely aggressive. I have never witnessed such a cruel scene in my life. Many days have passed, my whole family has not recovered, haunted, no one dares to leave the house...”, Mrs. Tam said in a trembling voice.
Ms. Hang (45 years old), owner of a coffee shop about 50m from the Viet Duc 2 intersection, also witnessed the violent scene of the armed group.
“Hearing a series of gunshots and noise, I stood inside the house and looked out and saw a group of people walking around, shouting…
Seeing their appearance and clothes, I imagined what happened. At that time, I was scared, I could only stand in the shop looking out, not daring to make a sound," Ms. Hang recounted.
It was not until nearly dawn, when she calmed down and left the house, that she learned that the Chairman of Ea Tieu commune had been murdered in a car at a nearby intersection.
On the morning of June 16, Ms. Danh (51 years old, owner of Duc Bao electrical shop in Ea Tieu commune) still looked bewildered when she heard that she had faced a dangerous person.
The person Ms. Danh met and talked to on the afternoon of June 11 was identified as Y Tim Nie - the subject arrested on the afternoon of June 11 and his image later spread widely on social networking sites.
Ms. Danh said that at about 5:00 p.m., she and her husband were at the store when a barefoot young man wearing camouflage pants and a red soccer shirt walked in front.
Hearing the news spread since morning, seeing the appearance of this young man, Mrs. Danh and her husband became suspicious.
“At first, the young man asked to borrow a phone charger. My wife and I were suspicious so we said we didn’t have one. The young man took out a phone from his pocket and said he wanted to sell it. I didn’t look at what kind of phone it was but made it clear that I wasn’t buying it.
At this time, the young man loudly asked for twenty thousand to fill up the gas tank. I saw that his appearance was not normal, as he was walking, holding an empty bottle of mineral water on his body... so I said "my son took all the money and left!" with the intention of chasing this person away. He then slowly walked down to the 19/8 market...", Ms. Danh said.
About an hour later, Ms. Danh and her husband heard the people around them run up to report that the suspicious-looking young man had been arrested for participating in the attack on the People's Committee headquarters of 2 communes. From the information published in the press the next day, she learned that the man was Y Tim Nie.
