Ms. Chung Tue Quyen (1961) came from an intellectual family in Lianyungang, Jiangsu (China). After China resumed university entrance exams, in 1979, she passed the entrance exam to the Department of Chemistry, majoring in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Xuzhou Normal University (China).
At that time, medical schools in China organized student exchanges. During that time, she met Mr. Ton Phieu Duong - a student at China Medical University (currently a billionaire in the pharmaceutical industry). Both were excellent students, had similar personalities and interests, which helped the two stick together until now.
After graduating from university, Ms. Quyen taught Chemistry at Dien An Secondary School in Lianyungang. Mr. Duong was assigned to work as a pharmacist at Lianyungang Pharmaceutical Factory. In 1990, Mr. Duong was appointed director, but that was also when the factory was in serious crisis. Faced with the chaos, he struggled to carry the factory back from the brink of bankruptcy.
Realizing that this was also an opportunity to start a business, Mr. Duong founded Hang Thuy Pharmaceutical Company, specializing in the production of cancer treatment drugs, cardiovascular drugs and pain relievers. Busy with management work at the factory, Mr. Duong did not have time to develop his own company.
Seeing her husband exhausted, the female teacher decided to quit her job to help him with his business. After more than 10 years of teaching, Ms. Quyen switched to the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, when taking on the position of deputy CEO, Ms. Quyen encountered many difficulties in business management.
With a bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and professional knowledge, Ms. Quyen soon joined the research and production (R&D) field. This process helped her to both communicate with partners and learn management experience. Thanks to that, the businesswoman successfully brought Hang Thuy Pharmaceuticals to develop step by step, achieving high revenue and gaining a name in the market.
In 1995, she separated and founded Hansol Pharmaceutical, specializing in the production of drugs to treat central nervous system diseases and infections. Compared to cancer drugs, the difficulty and cost of producing antibiotics are lower, and the profit is not high, but she does not care much. The purpose of founding the company, Ms. Quyen wanted to encourage her husband.
In 1997, Ms. Quyen successfully produced the antibiotic Cefalexin, which specializes in treating infections. After launching on the market, Cefalexin achieved a revenue of 4.5 million USD (109 billion VND). With this success, Hansoh continued to manufacture diabetes, cardiovascular and hormonal drugs.
In 2019, when it debuted on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Hansoh raised $1 billion (VND24,000 billion), raising the company's valuation to $10 billion (VND240,000 billion). After the first trading day, Ms. Quyen became the richest self-made female billionaire in Asia.
In 2020, Hansoh's revenue continued to grow strongly, with its stock price increasing by 10%. After 29 years of establishment, Hansoh is now the largest pharmaceutical company in China, with a prominent focus on psychiatric drugs.

Holding 68% of the company's shares, the net worth of the 'pharmaceutical queen' is about 62.5 billion yuan (215,000 billion VND).
