This year, the medical industry has 3 new professors: Pham Le An, Tran Phan Chung Thuy and Trinh Thi Dieu Thuong. Of these, Dr. An is the only male professor.
Mr. Pham Le An was born in 1963, from Tuong Loc commune, Tam Binh district, Vinh Long province. He is a senior lecturer, Head of the Family Medicine Center, Faculty of Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. An was trained from undergraduate to master's degree entirely in Vietnam. He graduated from university in 1988 with a degree in Medicine, specializing in Preliminary Pediatrics at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City. In 1998, he graduated with a master's degree and in 2006 with a doctorate in Medicine, specializing in Pediatrics, also at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, he won a scholarship to study family medicine in the US.
After graduating from university, Mr. An worked at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City as a lecturer.
During his 34 years of work, he has held many different positions at this university: 20 years as Head of the Family Medicine Center; 7 years as Deputy Head of the Postgraduate Department; 3 years as Head of the Expert Board of the Center for Training Medical Human Resources according to Social Requirements; 4 years in charge of the Center for Project Support and Innovation. Mr. An was appointed Associate Professor of Medicine in 2010.
Professor An's main research interests are family medicine, family vaccination, and air pollution. He has published 133 scientific articles, including 64 in prestigious international journals. In addition, he has 1 patent, 2 useful solutions, and published 6 books on medicine. He has also completed 2 scientific research topics and successfully guided 5 doctoral students to defend their theses.
Professor Pham Le An received many certificates of merit from the Minister of Health and was awarded the title of grassroots emulation fighter many times.
In addition to his training work, Professor Pham Le An is a famous pediatrician. More than 20 years ago, when his career was developing, he went to the US to pursue a then-unfamilial specialty: family medicine. He became one of the doctors who laid the foundation for this specialty in Vietnam. Currently, family medicine is a field of study that receives much attention.
“During my 34 years of work, I have always fully and seriously carried out educational work, teaching theory and practice to students and postgraduates. Not only imparting professional knowledge, I also guide research, helping students and trainees develop scientific research skills, analytical thinking, and problem solving through research topics in academic projects, doctoral theses, master's theses, residency, and secondary specialties" - Mr. An shared.
Mr. An said that he has participated in building and developing the school's training programs in general and the family medicine major in particular. He is also the head and co-head, participating in many scientific research topics, completing international exchange and cooperation tasks well...

Lecturer Tran Minh Phuong is the youngest female associate professor in Mathematics this year, currently working at Ton Duc Thang University. In just 4 years, Ms. Phuong has earned a master's and doctorate degree in France.
