Exchange with Truong Son Women Drivers Company

Speaking at the exchange, Chairwoman of the Hanoi Women's Union Le Kim Anh said that the program is one of the practical traditional education activities of the Hanoi Women's Union to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The program is a tribute to the women who contributed to creating the "Legend of Truong Son".

Expressing gratitude to the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veterans, war invalids, families of martyrs, people with great contributions to the country who have made great contributions to the revolutionary cause, especially the women and former soldiers of the Truong Son female driving company, former female youth volunteers, mothers and wives of martyrs, female war invalids, and wives of war invalids participating in the program, the President of the City Women's Union affirmed that following the example of the previous generations, in recent years, women of all classes and all levels of the Hanoi Women's Union have constantly strived to excel in studying, working, producing and working; always attaching importance to performing well the activities of gratitude and military rear work, actively contributing to the construction and development of the Capital.

"From the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day today, all levels of the Women's Union and women in the city will continue to train, strive, and constantly promote the fine traditions of Vietnamese women and heroic Hanoi," Ms. Le Kim Anh emphasized.

At the exchange and sharing about driving on the Truong Son route during the fierce war years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, former political commissar of the Driving Team, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Truong Son Women's Driving Company, said: "In the past, the sisters were small, the force was very small but enthusiastic. Out of 45 sisters, there were 40 drivers and 5 mechanics. We sisters only studied for 45 days before becoming drivers. The good sisters had 1 person per car, the weak sisters had 2 people per car. We had days off, nights, the road had many bomb craters, it was very hard."

And Ms. Bui Thi Van, who was once considered the beauty queen of the legendary Truong Son Women Drivers Company, shared: “When we received the assignment, in addition to driving, we were also porters. Then when transporting wounded soldiers, we worked as gentle nurses to take them to the nursing station. The years were hard, but the women were all determined and made efforts. We often said that this was a man’s job, but if women were determined, they could take on the burden and do it…”

The program also had an exchange and meeting with "The fulcrum of happiness", with resilient and strong wives, the fulcrum of severely wounded soldiers returning from the battlefields, with many silent sacrifices, overcoming difficulties and hardships to take care of and encourage their husbands to overcome the pain and consequences of war.

These are the examples of Mrs. Dao Thi Thac, wife of severely wounded soldier Le Duc Thuan, currently Vice President of the Women's Union of Ha Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District; Mrs. Phan Thi Kim Song, wife of severely wounded soldier Cao Van Thanh... In peacetime, they built a warm family home together, continued to make valuable contributions to the community, continued to write the silent heroic epic, and continued the Truong Son spirit in everyday life.
