On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on April 21, in Hanoi, the Youth Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Youth Union of the Ministry of Finance , Vietnam Airlines, Vietcombank, and Vietnam National Energy Industry Group organized a political and ideological education program for youth union members called "Gratitude for History - Inspiring Youth".
Speaking at the program, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Minh Duc emphasized: “This is a meaningful activity toeducate revolutionary ideals, arouse national pride and civic responsibility for young people of the new era. The highlight of the program is the screening of the film "Tunnels: Sun in the Dark" - a new film by director Bui Thac Chuyen, set in the steel land of Cu Chi during the anti-American resistance war, vividly recreating the arduous fighting life of the Southern army and people in the tunnels.
With its emotional storytelling and realistic images, the film offers a close yet profound perspective on the Cu Chi tunnels – once an underground fortress, a symbol of the nation’s intelligence, bravery and indomitable spirit. Young actors such as Anh Tu (as Luc Tac) and Nhat Y (as Ba Hieu) were also present at the event to share their transformation process and feelings about being part of a project with such historical significance.

In particular, the appearance of Hero of the People's Armed Forces To Van Duc brought many emotions to the young audience. The authentic memories of the tunnels, of the comradeship and team spirit in the heart of Cu Chi are a vivid bridge between history and the present, between cinema and reality.
Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Minh Duc emphasized that young people in peacetime also face many equally great challenges: “We do not live in bombs and bullets, but are facing challenges of peace , development, and national identity in the digital age. The first important thing is to understand history, appreciate the sacrifices of previous generations - from which to form a true and profound love for the Fatherland.”
Comrade Le Minh Duc also believes that cinematic works such as “Tunnels: Sun in the Dark” are not simply art, but are vivid materials that help the young generation look back at the past to move forward firmly in the present and future.
The program attracted more than 400 youth union members from many agencies and units. (Photo: Le Minh)
