To proactively respond to natural disasters and minimize production losses, the agricultural sector coordinates with localities to actively propagate and raise people's awareness of disaster response. At the same time, restructure the agricultural sector to adapt to climate change associated with the application of science and technology, crop conversion, and replication of effective agricultural production models. Instruct people to take care of crops in accordance with weather conditions to increase production efficiency. Localities and units managing and exploiting irrigation works in the province proactively implement plans to prevent drought, saline intrusion, and flooding for production crops, in detail and specifically for each sub-region, and maintain a regular reporting and meeting regime.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Nga, Deputy Head of Thanh Hoa Irrigation Sub-Department, said: The unit has assigned staff to monitor and grasp the situation of drought, saltwater intrusion, and flooding in localities to promptly take measures when situations arise. From the beginning of the year, the unit managing and exploiting irrigation works in the province has carried out dredging of canals, water intake gates, and water storage canals; repaired and renovated construction machinery, and implemented irrigation plans to save water; Regularly inspect and urge units to speed up the construction progress of irrigation works in the province to promptly provide irrigation water for production and prevent drought and waterlogging in 2024. Along with that, the unit coordinates with the Thanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station to promptly notify adverse weather developments to relevant units to serve the direction of agricultural production and on mass media so that local people can take appropriate response measures to minimize damage to production.
