Further reduction in water pressure at My Xuan A2 Industrial Park due to long-term water debt owed by the investor

Water pressure continues to drop, down to 40% of normal.

On June 17, Phu My Water Supply Joint Stock Company (Phumy Wasuco) continued to reduce by another 30% the pressure and water flow to My Xuan A2 Industrial Park.

Thus, compared to normal, the water pressure in My Xuan A2 Industrial Park has decreased by about 60%, reaching only 40%. Because before that, from June 13, the water supply unit had reduced the water pressure by 30%; at the same time, it announced the expected water cut-off from 8:00 a.m. on June 17.

The reason for the above series of actions is that Formosa International Development Company Limited (FIDC) - the investor of My Xuan A2 Industrial Park has owed tens of billions of VND in unpaid water bills. As of June 11, FIDC owed more than 23.4 billion VND in unpaid water bills.

According to the announcement of PhuMy Wasuco, the unit has continued to provide stable water supply according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and committed to FIDC's debt repayment schedule. However, the debt repayment is not as committed, causing the debt to increase.

At the same time, the company also organized discussions and worked with secondary investors in My Xuan A2 Industrial Park, but did not achieve positive results. The long-standing water debt without any solution has exceeded the tolerance of the company.

Lack of coordination between investors and secondary businesses makes it difficult for them to cope

Regarding the fact that FIDC is slow to pay its water debt, according to the report of the Industrial Park Management Board (IPB), the unit has invited many meetings to agree on a payment schedule for the water debt owed to PhuMy Wasuco, but FIDC did not attend.

FIDC's failure to pay water bills according to the contract; failure to fulfill its commitment on the payment schedule for the water bills owed, leading to a decrease in water pressure, is a very serious act, disregarding the law, causing instability in production and business activities, affecting the investment environment at My Xuan A2 Industrial Park... Therefore, the Management Board has reported to the Provincial People's Committee and proposed solutions.

At company P, which specializes in producing finished leather products, we have to take advantage of the night to fill tanks and reservoirs with water to serve production and daily activities during the day.

At company S, operating in the chemical and plastics industry, to operate the company must spend money to buy each water truck to supply essential equipment such as: circulating water for cooling, chemical preservation; exhaust air filtration system; server cold storage system, production materials...

Many secondary enterprises have filed complaints and petitions to the authorities about FIDC receiving water payments from secondary investors, but not paying the water supply unit.

Faced with that situation, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Provincial Police to urgently review and verify violations and related subjects, and consolidate records for handling according to regulations before June 25.

Regarding the water debt scandal of the investor affecting the production and business activities at My Xuan A2 Industrial Park, Mr. Le Van Hoa - Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation said that the Union has grasped the information and closely monitored the incident, and has made plans to participate in propaganda and mobilize union members and workers to comply with the provisions of the law. At the same time, it will support and ensure the legitimate rights and interests of workers if affected.
