It can be said that the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has changed the face of life. With the support of technology, connecting and communicating between family members has become easier. However, due to "meeting" through technology, real-life interactions have become less frequent. This is considered an invisible "barrier" between members of a modern family.
Throughout the history of construction and development, our Party and State have always promoted the role and position of the family. This is considered an important factor in the entire policy of building and developing the country. However, in modern society, many family values are at risk of being lost.
Recently, the decline of social morality, especially the deviant behavior of children towards grandparents and parents, has made many people worried. In addition, in modern society, parents often spend too much time on personal work without paying attention to and caring for their children. Many children are lonely and lost in their own homes. According to many assessments, these are also extremely harmful obstacles in building and spreading good value systems and standards of Vietnamese people.
In the current transitional context of Vietnam, the conflict between old and new values, traditional and modern values is also one of the reasons why the formation of a family value system with the criteria of prosperity, happiness, progress and civilization is facing many difficulties and challenges. Many experts believe that in many places, family values are being reversed, leading to a crisis in family functions, leading to a "breakdown" in terms of traditional values, ethics and culture.
In modern society, under the influence of the negative aspects of the market mechanism, many good traditional cultural values of the family are also being affected. Many families emphasize economic functions, do not pay attention to building emotional relationships, and neglect educating members about responsibility and healthy lifestyles. Therefore, the connection between members becomes looser.
If in the traditional Vietnamese family, the warm daily meal represents the community spirit and the connection between members; in recent years, the traditional family model has "transformed" with new characteristics. The busyness and studies of children affect the lifestyle, causing meals to lack members. The image of a happy family around the dinner table becomes rarer.
In the digital age, the dependence on technology has made people communicate less directly with each other. The image of phones on the dining table has become familiar in many Vietnamese families. Since when, parents and children have become sparing with each other, mainly communicating via Zalo, Messenger, Viber...
Therefore, living in the same house, parents and children are close in sight but far in heart, communicating with each other mainly through messages or smart tools. People communicate less directly with each other, share less with each other, understand each other less, and conflicts also arise from here.
Thus, the coverage and "invasion" of technology into life gradually changes living habits. Children, due to early exposure to smart devices, become more confident. However, children's routines and habits such as greetings, thanks, and apologies are also gradually becoming less frequent. Therefore, proactively protecting the family from the effects of technology becomes more important than ever.
In fact, the family is the first place to take on the role of education. Grandparents and parents are the teachers of children. For parents - consider raising children as the greatest joy and responsibility in life. The lack of responsibility in educating children is considered the most fundamental cause of children having a deviant lifestyle, affecting the formation of their personality in the future. From there, the connection gradually decreases, each person "does their own thing", and many problems easily arise in the family.
Faced with the pervasiveness of digital technology, parents need to have a proper understanding of the benefits, opportunities, risks and harms that technology brings. From there, families should set general rules for members to follow, build discipline, and specify the time for using technological devices.
In particular, parents should proactively change themselves and set an example. Spend more time caring for and educating their children, and avoid abusing smart technology devices to monitor and communicate with their children. At the same time, they should create common family activity spaces.
Parents should proactively guide their children on how to use the Internet safely, healthily, and intelligently; share with their children about the pitfalls and dangers on the Internet; have skills and know how to avoid risks. However, the most important thing is to increase communication and connection between members to understand each other.
According to many psychologists and educators, the formation of human personality from family education is the first knowledge mark that is not easily faded for humans. The basic lessons that each person receives in the family will be like the first ink marks on a blank page, forming the principles of life for a personality throughout their life.
Moreover, to enhance the role of family education, we need to have in-depth research on inheriting traditional family education values, combining modern educational trends, and building new standards for family education.
In 2001, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 72/2001/QD-TTg to designate June 28 every year as Vietnamese Family Day to emphasize the important role of the family and honor the traditional cultural values of the nation. After 23 years of implementation, Vietnamese Family Day has become a traditional day aiming to honor the good values of the nation, affirming the role and position of the family in the stability and overall development of the country. |
