Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy has just honored individuals recognized by the Chairman of the State Council of Professors as meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor in 2024.
This year, the State Council of Professors announced a list of 615 candidates eligible to be considered for recognition as Professor and Associate Professor. Among them, Mr. Hoang Quoc Cuong - Director of the Department of Health of Can Tho City - met the standards for the title of Associate Professor in Medicine.
Mr. Cuong was born in 1982, from Quang Tri, is a doctor of epidemiology, general practitioner, fluent in English and French.
Mr. Cuong is the eldest son of former Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien. He graduated from high school at Le Hong Phong High School (HCMC), then studied at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, HCMC, and did his master's degree at Bordeaux 2 University (France, from 2007-2009). From 2011-2016, Mr. Cuong studied for a doctorate at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, Open University (UK).
The Director of Can Tho City Department of Health has 52 scientific articles, including 25 international articles, related to infectious diseases, epidemiology, and preventive medicine, contributing to policies in disease prevention and improving people's health.
In 2019, Mr. Cuong was appointed Deputy Director of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2022, he assumed the position of Director of the Can Tho City Department of Health until now.
Up to now, Mr. Cuong has more than 20 years of experience in training and fostering from university level and above and 15 years of teaching.
