Speaking with Tuoi Tre reporter, Mr. Le Van Thinh - Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, the agency assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to organize the Tran Dai Nghia Award - said that the teaching staff will play a decisive role in the success of vocational education development in the city.

* In 2022, for the first time, the Tran Dai Nghia Award was organized by Ho Chi Minh City to honor the management team and vocational education teachers in the area. How do you evaluate the impacts after this first award season?
- The award, held for the first time in 2022, has left many marks in the field of vocational education in the city. Contributing to the success of the award are typical individuals and groups with many contributions to the development of vocational education in Ho Chi Minh City.
In my opinion, each teacher who has won the Tran Dai Nghia Award has countless stories that inspire teachers, students in particular and society in general. They are all teachers and managers who have excellently completed their assigned tasks, actively participated in emulation movements, and have been emulation fighters at the grassroots, city and ministerial levels for many consecutive years.
Particularly among the commended managers, in addition to completing their management tasks well, teachers also participate in teaching, actively conduct scientific research, and propose innovative teaching solutions...
Through the achievements of teachers, we can see that to be a good vocational teacher, teachers must not only be good at their profession but also must always practice, research solutions, invent application models in teaching, innovate teaching methods, and impart knowledge to help learners develop the required professional skills.

- The 2nd Tran Dai Nghia Award in 2024 is selected based on new regulations, adjusted and supplemented with new criteria according to the Law on Emulation and Commendation to select outstanding teachers and managers who deserve to be honored.
The profiles of teachers and managers proposed for the award come from a wider range of professions, from art, accounting, mechanical engineering to construction engineering...
I hope the award will continue to honor typical managers, teachers, scientists, and groups that have made positive contributions to the development of Ho Chi Minh City in general and the field of vocational education in particular.

- The teaching staff is considered a key factor, playing a decisive role in improving the quality of training at vocational training institutions in the context of globalization and international economic integration.

The team of vocational education teachers in Ho Chi Minh City is trained to improve their qualifications every year. Many teachers are not only exemplary in ethics, self-study and creativity, but also good at professional knowledge, have high skills and expertise, and are "golden hands" to guide and train students.
The Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs periodically advises on organizing many professional competitions for teachers such as: self-made training equipment competition at city level and participating in national competitions, organizing vocational education teacher teaching competitions at city level and participating in national teaching competitions.

- From the perspective of state management of vocational education, I think there needs to be comprehensive solutions and more attention to the team of vocational education teachers. For example, there needs to be mechanisms and policies to attract teachers with high qualifications and skills, focus on training and professional development at home and abroad, and especially build a pedagogical environment for teachers to actively strive, practice and contribute.
In addition, in the field of vocational education, there are currently academic competitions for teachers. Exams and competitions are held regularly to exploit the intellectual potential and creativity of teachers and are an opportunity to evaluate the quality of training and enhance the sense of competition. The achievements in these exams contribute to enhancing the reputation of training institutions and attracting new students to study at vocational education institutions.
The Department will continue to research and propose to the City to issue policies on encouragement and support for teachers, students, pupils, and trainees who win prizes in city-level, national, regional, and international competitions and competitions...

- Regarding the teaching staff, as of October 31, 2024, the total number of teachers in vocational education institutions is 15,973 people, including 2,488 managers (15.58%), 13,485 teachers (84.42%), 100% of teachers meet professional and technical standards.
The team of teachers and vocational education managers has developed in both quantity and quality, contributing to the quality of vocational education in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vocational education teachers have proficient vocational skills, actively participate in scientific research, have many solution models applied in teaching practice, and have achieved many high achievements in emulation movements and academic activities at the city and national levels.
