Euréka 2024 Student Research Prize has a record number of topics

(NLDO) – The 26th Euréka Student Scientific Research Award in 2024 received 1,903 topics from 152 colleges, universities, and academies nationwide.

On December 6, 188 topics from 101 excellent colleges, universities, and academies were selected for the final round of the 26th Euréka Student Scientific Research Award in 2024, held at Saigon University (District 5).

Sharing at the contest, Ms. Tran Thu Ha - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City - said that this is the year with a record number of contest topics with more than 1,900 topics nationwide. This proves that the movement and passion for scientific research are being strongly promoted in schools.

"The topics participating in the award have high scientific content, focusing on solving practical problems of life. Through the competition, many topics have been transferred technology, with the opportunity to commercialize products in reality" - Ms. Ha assessed.

Coming to the competition, a group of students from Ton Duc Thang University including Truong Van Tien, Tran Quang Phuc, and Le Nguyen Hoang Nam introduced to the jury a machine that converts saltwater into fresh water.

"My hometown is in Ben Tre province, the water source is often contaminated with salt. That's why I want to research a filter that has good capacity and performance but is also economical so that everyone can use it" - Quang Phuc expressed.

In the field of engineering technology, a group of students from Ton Duc Thang University competed with a project to research a saltwater filter.

The group is determined to turn research into products that can be applied in practice.

The group said that after more than 2 years of research, the filter meets the needs of people in saltwater areas. The machine uses RO filter cores, with a maximum filtration capacity of more than 300l/hour, removing over 95% of salt.

The final round is organized with many activities to create exchanges and connections between candidates. Specifically, candidates will be able to eat, stay, and live together for 4 days and participate in many activities of the award such as: presenting topics to the Scientific Council; visiting key projects of Ho Chi Minh City; visiting historical sites of the city; participating in the Euréka Scientific Research Student Camp.

In particular, applied topics will be supported with funding to continue research, development, commercialization and application transfer.

The award ceremony of the 26th Euréka Student Scientific Research Award 2024 will be held on December 8.

Euréka Student Scientific Research Award is a prestigious award for scientific research and creativity of students organized by Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City National University.

This year, there are 15 fields of competition as follows: pharmaceutical chemistry, medical science, biology, information technology, food technology, educational science, administration - law, economics, engineering technology, agricultural science, planning, architecture - construction, environmental resources, physics, social sciences and culture and arts.
